Image if NASA had a budget....

Seeing the shutdown cost twice as much as NASA's budget... I wonder what scientists and a decade can produce with a significant budget? Even return to the 1960s...

Re: Image if NASA had a budget....

That cost is supposedly to GDP, not the government which continued receiving their tax revenues. But we could double NASAs budget on just the fraudulent EITCs the IRS hands out every year.

What about Mars?

How are they going to connect to Mars? Imagine Mars One colonists accessing some server on Earth, and waiting for half an hour, while the signal travels back and forth

An unnamed cable executive commented, "Nobody on the moon needs 622 Mbps".

Re: What about Mars?

depending on the location of each it would take between 7-45 minutes for a signal to make a round trip from mars to earth and back.

So....

...we can't get 10Mbps to most of rural USA reliably but NASA can potentially get more on the Moon. Can we get the NASA techs to teach the ISP please?

Re: I'm moving there!!

You will not get any signal on the far side of the moon- so like in the U.S., it will depend on your location.

Re: This just in..

Nope comcast sent them an overage notice. And warned them cut usage or face termination of the account.

Tell that to the MSOs and telcos, along their their lobbyists that keep trying to resurrect it every quarter.

You spend a few million, you can get that 10Mb service, no problem.

The jokes about how fast you hit your cap or throttling eveytime a story like this comes up are as funny as a Rick Roll.
