You do realize that the only only promise the White House ever made in regard to those petitions was that the president would comment on them if they went over the set number of signatures by the deadline.
It was never said that any of those petitions would influence the government in any way, no matter how many signatures they get.
Yesterday from around 2:30am central until 6:00am central, Charter had a nationwide routing issue, apparently due to a bad BGP update of some sort. For me, it knocked out all of our Charter PRI's along with all Internet, both business and residential.
The worst part is that we were doing an electronic medical record update to begin at 3AM, and our vendor has VPN equipment at our site but only connected to Charter. The vendor couldn't log in via VPN to deploy the software until 6AM. As you can imagine, our users were angry when we started going past our maintenance window!
Lessons learned: get another VPN to the vendor on one of our other ISP's, and triple your maintenance window estimates. I only doubled it.

I saw this too, really good. That day before the video premier, daft punk uploaded a pic of that guys face on facebook. Didnt know what it meant til friday.
Looking at installing a solar water heater on Monday. Total cost is 5K without any incentives. 2K with incentives. That's installed with all labor/parts and permits included.
Don't know if I am getting a good deal so I contacted another vendor to get a second estimate.
I have my security system monitored by a local alarm company. They have their monitoring station right here in western Mass. There are several advantages, one they're cheaper and second they are familiar with the local area.
A few years ago, there was an issue with ADT calling the town of Hampden police dispatch confusing it with Hampden County. We have very limited county government here (mainly the courts, county jail, and the county recorder's office). They were calling the town of Hampden for other cities and towns.
This incident made the news. A local company is familiar with the local police contacts and the local areas.
I may go with ADT though as I need a cheap monitored alarm system to secure my Grandma's house for reasons I cannot disclose but it is related to a family matter.
I was in Home Depot today and there was a guy pushing solar electric systems along with incentives. I said to him "I rent" as I am going to the checkout with a 5 pack of rocker "Decora" type light switches along with the appropriate cover plates.
I find the rocker type switches are easier to operate than toggle switches, especially for my grandmother who in the advanced stages of rheumatoid arthritis.
I've already changed out a toilet with one that has a higher rim and added a grab bar. With hip replacements, I found out that they are not to bend their hips at more than a 90 degree angle or they risk popping it out (which she has done time and time again). I'd love to install a stairlift but I don't have that kind of money so unfortunately she is confined to the first floor of my house.
i have both a pv system and a radiant heat water heater. 120gal. works very well. if possible, do an electric consumption assessment on your existing heater. use this to calculate the roi. either way, 2k isnt bad at all.
I've been thinking about installing a passive system on the roof. The house is already plumbed for it with 2 1" copper pipes running from the roof to the utility area in the garage. It would go from supply to roof into black bladders or coiled pipes or both to the water heater pre-heated.
I don't know what your system entails but 2k sounds like a good price.
If you're renting you can invest in some LED lighting that you could take with you if necessary. I found the Philips Ambient LED bulbs are pretty much indistinguishable from incandescent, they're the best I've seen. Uses 80% less electricity per lumen. I've only put them in lamps that get a ton of usage so they pay for themselves quicker. Then they start paying me
