Comments on news posted 2013-12-19 10:39:16: As noted yesterday, the British government is moving forward with its effort to impose Internet filters, willfully-oblivious to the facts that such filters usually don't work, often filter legit content, are usually easily bypassed by those looking f.. ..

Free Speech always limited in UK, unlike USA

Free speech does not have the long backing in the UK like it does in the USA because of the 1st Amendment here. Official Secrets Act stops newspapers from publishing info; Court hearings can't be published until trial is over; Freedom of Religion hasn't existed since Henry VIII.

Is it any surprise that the UK has no problem limiting info on the internet if the government deems it necessary for good public order?

And if you say something "racially insensitive" you're arrested. North Korea executes porn performers, the UK operates by the same general theory of government, but it adds more padding to the cells

was he arrested by the government? no, then his free speech was not infringed, free speech means the government cant arrest you for speaking your mind, it does NOT apply to private businesses. and id bet you any thing if some one at hobby lobby or chick-fil-a was fired for voicing their opinion on Christianity being the cause of many a war or something similare, every one would be praising the companies right to fire.

now, when a&e is declared a soverand nation, or declared part of the u.s. government, THEN people would have a case about free speech when it comes to him.

This is what happens

This is what happens in a "Nanny State" wherein citizens are not considered adult enough to decide what is good for them. Filters will always make poor decisions especially when politicians are directing them.

Great Firewall.. of the United Kingdom.

Yep, the UK fucking sucks, just like China. Herm..?

There is practically no reason to filter or keep hidden any content or information. It is done purely for censorship reasons, one persons opinion over everyone elses, and the consequence is limiting peoples access to develop their minds and learn how to properly integrate things like porn and nudity and sexual information.

No freedom of religion? Are you clear on the concept? In the UK, anyone is free to belong to whatever religion they want to. In Henry's time, it was a crime to belong to any church but his. This is no longer true or there would be public burnings at the stake in London for being Catholic.
