All sorts of things, good and bad...

... happened between the signing of the actual Magna Carta and the still imperfect world around us today.
While everyone can get on board the idea of "keeping a neutral and healthy avenue for the continued exchange of ideas and commerce." recognize gov't and business is PART of the mix in those processes and the web would not function at all without them.

quote:
protect the web from governments and corporations alike
The gov't and it's money built the internet. And Corporations made into something that not just nerds (like me and other early adopters) would visit. So unlike Berners-Lee, I don't think the Internet needs protecting.

Both sides need to be heard and respected and it shouldn't be so adversarial, more of a symbiotic relationship.
neither can exist without the other, and both can thrive when in balance.

Sorry, your search for "Magna Carta" has returned no results

This may be because

1. You have reached your bandwidth cap for the hour.

2. The domain has been seized by a government agency.

3. The server hosting your document failed to pay for priority traffic to our network.

4. Your government filter has classified "Magna Carta" as a euphemism for kiddie porn and has blocked the site.

5. "Magna Carta" is Hollywood's latest blockbuster and the RIAA has blocked the site.

Please do not leave your current location. Law enforcement has been notified and will be breaking down your door shortly.

Not. Those things don't happen, and likely never will.

Sad part is we are not far off from any of those. Heck #1 was a reality a few years ago for anybody on Satellite, and number 3 is extremely close over cellular.

Security of clicking questionable

Why would anyone click on the sign up info or link, etc. with security as insecure as it is today? This act in itself would seem to be contrary to just about everything I've learned. Do I trust DSLR to post credible articles? Of course. But would I just click, willy nilly, because this arose here...NOT. Hmmmmmmmm. Guess there's so much insecurity on the Net, I am now becoming paranoid.

No, that's not it, I think your tinfoil hat is perhaps just a little too tight.

First thing that needs to be done

The first thing that needs to be done is the Comcast & TWC merger needs to be stopped It will be very bad for the web in the US if it is allowed to happen. That & we need fiber nationwide so cable does not take over the web in the US.

Re: First thing that needs to be done

Not quite. Now you want the merger to stope.
The past tense of the verb "stop" is spelled "stopped".
