Sure about the two tuners?

I think when you mention two satellite tuners you mean that's in the new Super Joey. The wireless Joey doesn't have any satellite tuners in it and relies on a Hopper and Super Joey's for any tuners.

Does the Hopper still only have three tuners? Or did they finally increase the number of tuners?

Hopefully self install allowed

Hopefully I can get the gear through Solid Signal and install it myself.

Re: Sure about the two tuners?

Hopper w/sling - main "server" DVR w/3 tuners

Super Joey - serves a secondary TV loc & adds 2 additional tuners to a Hopper, but is NOT wireless (MUST be used w/a Hopper; will NOT work on it's own)

(wired) Joey - serves secondary TV, has NO tuners

Wireless Joey - same as above, but works w/out coax

One caveat on the SJ...while they will allow you to have multiple Hoppers on a single account, they will ONLY allow 1 Hopper with 1 SJ on the same account.

let's clear a few things up

The Access Point is what costs $50, it's not embedded into anything, it plugs into the hopper's ethernet port or is connected to the hopper system somewhere using ethernet or a Hopper Internet Connector. The SuperJoey adds 2 satellite tuners to the hopper's 3 tuners for a total of 5 physical tuners. You can have 3 wireless joeys in your hopper/joey system. Joeys, wireless Joeys, and virtual Joeys cost $7/month (I think virtual Joeys should be free) while the SuperJoey costs $10/month. As mentioned, you can only have 1 SuperJoey.

"DISH Eliminates Wire Clutter with New Wireless Joey"

So there just moving the Clutter from wired to wireless. And if your in a WiFi congested area or you don't have a WiFi capable router or AP, Good luck with that. Wired is better to handle HD or large format data and is preferred.

PS3 Dish App

Can you access your Dish programming from a PS3 that's not on your network? Let's just say you were visiting a friend and took your PS3 with you. Can you connect to a network that the Hopper is not on and receive programming?

So at least now with the Super Joey you can get five tuners. That sounds like a different way of adding tuners. But the more tuners the better.

EARTH

DISH

Doesn't do much to help DISH's crappy service, and it's a kludgy solution just to get to the point that the Genie is at tuner-wise, and it's not scalable like the Genie is.
