There is only one way to drop cable TV prices. Stop using it broadcasters will be forced to reduce pricing.

"Higher than Expected"

Sure, might have been higher than expected for them, but basically everyone else could see this coming.

Re: What?

"The loss is also still an improvement on the second quarter one year ago, when Comcast lost 162,000 video customers."

I guess only a determined few, like Ryan Block, now manage to escape from Comcast's retention department.

Prepare for more "trial data threshold areas"

I am confident that there will be a few more areas added to the list of trial areas that have "data thresholds" before the end of the year or after the merger gets approved. How long do these trials usually last, I've had it for 5 years.

The number of losses must be wrong!

Considering how "HARD" Comcast works to "RETAIN" customers -- like the audo recording of a customer attempting dropping service -- those numbers must be wrong. The reason being that they don't let customers drop service LOL.

cheers!

Q2

I read on another site this is actually their best second quarter in 6 years so they probably aren't too concerned. Though I doubt they like to see losses after 2 quarters of adding video subscribers.

Re: What?

You would have to see if competitors such as DirecTV, Dish, FiOS, or U-verse lost or gained customers and how many before you can call cord cutting the reason for this.

Re: College students?

If said college students live on campus, they risk being kicked out of school when an RIAA or MPAA notice comes into the school and matches an IP address that the student used.

Implode

It's time for Comcast implode. I bet the advertising level from them goes through the roof.

Re: What?

I bet that many people are on a long vacation/ moving from A>B, planning on watching Netflix, amazon, hulu through the summer season, (what used to be the rerun time of year) or spending time outside, and coming back to a discount in the fall. The difference in subs is minut and if it continues they'll make it up on HSI fees

they'll just regain lost revenues with data caps and premium not neutral data lanes - this is why it's
critical isp's are changed to title-ii utilities, and not be allowed to self regulate as the fcc would like.

Another reason

Comcast provides standard definition unless you pay for HD. The wife and I watched the World Cup over the Internet because the quality was better than the what Comcast charges me to provide. When HD is now the standard Comcast should be providing it for no extra charge. If I'm going to stream any way why should I pay Comcast?

Re: What?

Just put up an ota antenna and picked up 48 OTA channels. Granted 12 are the same PBS channels repeated, but added to online options, why bother paying.

LOL the prices wont go down, they will just raise their internet rates to compensate. Cox has done this for 3 years straight.
