Re: Can't wait to start the bus training

Training a bus is just like training a dog - show him who is the master and all will go well.

Nifty looking chair...'-}}

It looks like you can move the arms/arm support out horizontally? I like the arm a bit wider because i sit cross-legged most of the time...

Re: Interesting post on Reddit re: Chattanooga municipal GB fiber grid

Well, not always. Has to be the right kind of Socialism. Centrally-planned economies like the USSR always failed horridly at Telecom - not enough output to build out infrastructure for the demand. Moscow only got digital switching in the late-80's! Of course this is not a good example, but it just has to be stated for discussions sake.

But in the USA's case I agree. Many, if not a majority of large infrastructure projects have been financed by local, state, and federal government. I do not see why Broadband infrastructure should be classified as different from roads, water systems, power grids. Private industry has proven unwilling to provide service, just like the for-profit electric companies of the 30's.

A little regulation, some public projects, and the situation will improve just like rural electrification back in the day.

It sure makes more sense than starting another war at untold costs with many bodies. Broadband would not do that. But the Telco lobby + Telco boot-lickers here would want you to think that competition would kill children, spread cancer, etc

Correction thanks to the Republicans in Congress that want to kill the Post Office but pay for useless F35 which nobody needs.

For 1% of the Price of the F35 everyone in the US could have gotten FTTH.

A government built fiber network with private providers on it. Much like how many car and gas taxation builds roads, But I can choose to hire Fedex or UPS or USPS when I need a package delivered

Good wishes on the road test. (Watch out for the weirdo car drivers who like to hide in the blind spot and believe trucks and buses can stop on a dime.)

At least public transit isn't dead, you should see some of the buses in our area. Packed in like sardines.

Not everyone can afford a car, especially with $3.51 a gallon gas and $133 a month auto insurance. And I own the car outright so no car payments. Fortunately for me I live towards the end of the bus line so I get a seat when I ride the bus but once you get towards downtown it's standing room only.

There are other bus driving jobs but those are over the road jobs. I don't have a school bus endorsement on my permit, just a passenger endorsement.

Finally!

After upwards of a year for serious hunting, and 17 years of wishing finally was able to seal the deal on my dream Navigator. My payments are a little higher than I would have liked, but it’s a 2013 (as opposed to a 2011, which is what I thought I’d end up with), with 20,000 miles and 4 years left on the factory warranty. Red exterior (would have preferred black, but any color but white is good), charcoal interior (the color I wanted), navigation system w/ SiriusXM and Ford Sync, heated/cooled front and second row seats, and of course the one thing I will never be without again, a moonroof. Not sure what other nonstandard options and features are on it but I will be having fun with my new toy shortly, should have it in a week and a half to two weeks.

Only two decisions I need to make yet, 1) What temperature xenon’s will I be installing (toss up between 6000K and 12000K) and 2) where is my first road trip with this thing going to be!

That research paper is wonderful - I wish more people would be aware of what was stolen from us by the Baby Bells post-96 deregulation.

I just got fed up with the $100 chairs from the office stores. They dont seem to last a year or 2. Latest one broke that connects the armrest to the backrest. You can see where it formed bubbles when the plastic was being molded. My current armrest is a piece of plywood.

Not really sure. Looks like theres a little bit of play you can adjust it to.

All I could find is free shipping, which is set by default. They had the exact same chair at amazon, sold by dxracer. I did that so I have 6 months no interest to pay off the chair with my amazon card.

Re: Can't wait to start the bus training

Backing a 58' trailer requires skill,believe me. Straight truck is much easier. I took my test in 1992 when the CDL started,I found the road test to be the easiest part, and I had to blind side parallel park.The pre-trip was hardest for me.

I've been very, very lucky with the office chair I bought at Staples 6-8 years ago for ummm...$99-ish as it's still a decent chair. Other than the seat and arm rests, it's basically mesh--an inexpensive knockoff of that classic one whose maker I can't remember. The height adjusts (good thing since I'm short...'-}}) and it has a rock (back) control. It's very comfortable and the seat is wider than most of the office chairs I've looked at recently so I don't feel squashed...'-}}

I had a mesh chair at one point, but the back rest started to lean down more and more (only support was on the seat). Then again, I bought it at big lots for $75, so thats my mistake.

Tell us what was in this omelet, please.

I made an omelet with pepper jack cheese, honey ham, and fresh green peppers the other day...it was good. Brown eggs, not the white eggs.

Thanks. Part of the reason it took so long was because the Navigator went into production in May 1997 for the 1998 model year when I was 12 years old. I was fan of the Expedition, and then when Ford came out with it's more expensive and chromed out twin cousin, I fell in love.

My first car was a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer that I got on my last day of high school in '03, in 2008 I went for an '05 Aviator, which was built on the Explorer platform and a mini Navigator, and now that I have a great job and was able to build up (again) a nice savings for a down payment, I felt it was a great time to finally make the leap and get my self into a lot of debt for the next handful of years

Most kids dream of owning some sports car, not me my dream was always a Navigator. Never had a desire for some exotic import. Hell, I don't even like riding in, let alone driving smaller vehicles. Now that the next generation of Navigator is going all sissy with that Ecoboost crap, I felt it was the perfect time as the 2014 would be the newest I'd ever get.
