priceless

A true, confident religion invites scrutiny.

Scientology cowers in fear of scrutiny, to the point that their lawyers bully search portals into removing links to sites which are critical of it.

Oh, you're going to go to... Hey, where do bad scientologists go when they die? A lesser planetoid or something?? Wouldn't be hell...

Think you guys supplied enough links?

DSLR staff Dudes! Your one paragraph lead for this story has six links alone. If you go to each of them they pull up a page that offers another gaggle of links. There must nearly 40 or 50 links to this story. When I've got two hours to read the content of where they all go, then I'll cut and paste to Word so I can read the complete coherent story and decide whether or not to try comment on what it all says.

My current complaint aside, you folks at DSLR overall do a great job everywhere, including in preparing and posting good articles for the News Forum.

Are you shure they are not a Telecom?

Wow this reads like what some ILECS/CLECS do to their employees, stockholders, and customers when they cry foul. Are there a lot of DSL companies that are also SC members? I'm totally serious. LOL. If copyright or trademark laws are broken and Google knows about it but does nothing then Google should get in trouble. If someone is stating what they have witnessed while participating in a SC event then Google should leave the posts on. I feel people have the right to share what they have seen online and not say their name. Hopefully, if their name is found out they have witnesses and documents to back their claims and can counter sue for a very large amount.

 Bible Copyrighted?

Imagine the Bible being copywrited. That is what Scientology is doing with their own writings. They try to hide these "sacred" books from view sayig only scientologists may view them. In fact, they have even been in court and filed motions that their "writings" cannot be divulged in open court due to religious practice.

This is a cult for money pure and simple and they go after every single website that even hints at any critizism. They even state that any person that is against the church may be dealt with in any manner no matter what. They even condone killing ex members who critizise the church. This would be like catholic preists killng the boys they molest. In Germany, they are not a religion and even John Travolta (a BIG Scientologist) goes there year after year trying to get them to recognize the religion. What is needed is a concerted effort on the web and in the courts against this sham.

I think it was either a joke or a bet between Hubbard and Clarke that the only real way to make money in the world is to form you own religion. Welp...it seems to have worked for him.

Feel free to correct if I have the second party wrong.

Campaign Finance Bill

According to currently passed legislation, only incumbent politicians and the "media" have freedom of speech. And in this case "the media" is only pro democrat newspapers and news anchors. What a great time to be an american.

Since when do artists and censors mix so smoothly?

Well, we kind of had it until the DMCA came along. Yup, that's the famous DMCA being relied upon by the MPAA and RIAA to shut down P2P technology. As we can see here, that very same DMCA is being used to censor speech on the Internet. Hmm, I wonder if the DMCA's unconstitutional? Hhhhmmmmmmmmm.

Re: priceless

I thought about joining scientology back in the early 70's. They had some cute babes doing the come-on pitch, some impressive hand waving and promises. Just what a 19 year old just off momma's apron strings would go for (implied sex sells a lot, especially to boot sailors!)

What turned me off was the mystical gadget that could analyze (I think it was your emotion stability) you and help guide you to fulfillment. When I realized that the mystical gadget nothing more that a galvanometer/ohmmeter, zip.

That may be true, but us simple folks who actually believe that a religion (other than scientology) might actually be for real don't sue folks who say otherwise. Ok, so most of the older religions used to kill and torture people if they didn't believe, well that was a long time ago and they, for the most part, learned that method really did not produce the desired affect. But they never drug them into court....

Well there was that Scopes Monkey Trial in Tennessee, that thing in Ohio recently about creationism vs evolution, and...

Guess we don't have either Freedom of Religion or Speech. The folks who have lots of power (or is that money) that control those freedoms simply can't stand to let us in on that fun...

And I thought I was going to read about Broadband over here. Man Religion and Politics at once. What more could you ask for?
