Nintendo,. out, are you CRAZY?

Nintendo makes the BEST frachises, compared to it comptetion. I mean, take a look at Pokemon for example. As for online, ok? For one, Sega is pretty much on Nintendo's side, and Sega has experience in the field, correct? Look at what Nintendo did with Pokemon using just two Gameboys, imagine them bring that to an online version. Ok. What about Goldeneye, one of the best multiplayer games for its time, and it was SLIPT screen fur crying out loud. -lol And, if you think far enough back, the video game market was pretty much done for in the U.S. until Nintendo released the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) and told retailers it was not a video game system, but rather a {NES}. Due to the poor effort of the Atari 2600, which killed the video game market during its time. But Nintendo, with ROB, realeasd it system, and promised retailers that they would buy back ALL systems not sold.

And Nintendo, going out? Nintendo, not doing well when it comes to online. -lol Whatever.

LOL

Xbox will not be gone. Not a chance. It has surpassed the GC so much in the first couple of months with # and quality of games realeased.

Anyway, just thought I would state my opinion. Have fun regardless which company you choose. lol

MOHAA for GC

Electronic Arts is going to bring MOHAA to the gamecube, so that would be cool to play online on the GC

Re: Don't cut Nintendo out yet...

His friend is correct. It is doing a lot better then the XBox. Your 10,000 statement is correct for the Gamecube, but not the XBox. His friend said, "the Gamecube is doing well over there, better then the XBox no less." His friend is correct. Selling 4+ million units worldwide in only about 8-9 months is pretty impressive especially with the limited amount of games it has released. However, that number is sure to sky rocket with the release of Zelda and Mario. Sales maybe poor in your eyes, but they'll pick up with the release of these titles. Plus, the European launch is coming soon and pre-orders of around 75,000 doesn't hurt either.

Here's the article with the sales figures:

»cube.ign.com/articles/357/357591p1.html

What's funny is the Dreamcast, which is hardly being supported in Japan and is pretty much extinct in terms of developers in America is barely behind the XBox in sales.

Actually, it's not. It's doing slightly better than Xbox Japan, but it's still pretty much a failure.

PS2 sells over a million per month.

Right. Just like how Resident Evil, a hugely popular title was supposed to boost sells and nothing moved. And just like how Shenmue and dozens of other games on the Dreamcast were supposed to boost sells and they just sunk even lower. It will take much more than Mario or Zelda to bring the GameCube up to the level it needs to be to compete with the PS2.

It's really funny how IGNCube falsified every single number in favor of Nintendo's consoles. As for the Dreamcast, they completely made their numbers up. Dreamcast has been delisted from all major charts for almost a year, including the one they said was their source.

Case and point, both GameCube and Xbox are turning out to be failures, but least the Xbox has the financial backing to keep it alive through its current rough waters. GameCube will probably stick around for some time too, but it's doubtful that Nintendo will be in the hardware business after the GameCube's life span is over.

These consoles are just too expensive! I think I'll just stick to PC.

You do know that Microsoft is losing money on each X-Box sell while Nintendo actually makes money per GameCube sale, right?

the difference is that Bill Gates has more money than anyone can possiby imagine, and he has decided that it's worth sacrificing some of it to get his foot in the door of the console market.

if you think he will give up because of a slow start (ala dreamcast) you are sadly mistaken, he knew that he would lose money initially with this project, he just doesn't care about it in the short term... his plans are long range, and i would be surprised if he doesn't succeed.

Heck im not even close to a fan of MS (i only boot to windows at my GRUB dual-boot screen when i plan on gaming)... and even i recognize that the x-box is the most advanced console on the market. Given a little time i would not be surprised to see nintendo in trouble trying to compete with MS and Sony, they are are overmatched in this one

 These are the facts.

You guys want the truth? PS2 will outlive X-Box and Gamecube becuase of developer support and an already strong userbase. Nintendo 64 was stronger than PS1 and so was Sega Saturn, who lived then? Microsoft should stick to goofing up Windows. The current lineup of X-Box games are absolutely terrible, the game has maybe 3 games that are worth buying, much like Nintendo 64's problem. Don't fool yourselves.

Re: Xbox is doing poorly everywhere else...

I dunno. So far the Gamecube has brought out some real winners in my book. I would hit Rogue Leader over Halo any day. As far as the Xbox is concerned I don't think it's doing as bad as HondaMan says it's doing, but it's not meeting Microsoft's expectations. I think the Xbox online gaming formula is going to end up open a big can of worms if they are not careful on how they usurp control over developers and gamers on their servers.

Re: umm hmmm

If there is any console game system that could be hacked that would be the Xbox. For one the Gamecube's operating system it is hard wired so you would have to mess with the firmware to get to it (not impossible from what I know). Another thing to consider is the Gamecube uses code that's not compatible with any current PC operating system. How can you even hack the 'Cube if you cannot communicate with it? The Xbox on the other hand uses a version of Windows, which can EASILY communicate with PC systems. I am surprised I haven't heard of Xbox systems hacked to become mini PC's yet.

Xbox will win in the End, Microsoft has deep pockets they could give the Xbox away and Microsoft would still makes billions.

That's a common misconception. The Xbox uses a version of DirectX as its operating core code, NOT Windows.

I doubt MS will win. I think they are trying after the same market as the PS2. With the PS2 launching a year earlier, it was a gap that the X-Box cannot overcome IMO.

Plus, even if MS did give it away for free I would not pick one up if had less than four or five AAA titles. Otherwise, why waste money buying mediocre games for a free system? Kind of defeats the purpose.

I think MS should focus all of their resources and money into Windows and .NET, but they won't...

 PC Games #1

The Pc Has , and always will be , The Best and Most Advanced Gaming Platform. (In my Opinion ne way)

If You wanna pay 50 bucks Forever For shitty Little Kid games , Just for the Convinience Of being able to pop in game disk and play away , Then by all Means Waste your money
on That X-cube you've been Eye balling because you dont want to take the Time and Effort For the Real Game Experience.

My Pc Only cost about 200 More than one of the 299 systems , and with Component Prices Dropping , It will Be even less soon. ( I did , However , Have to Build it From Scratch. But I think this is all Part of the Experience)

I Dont think any of the New systems Could Provide a Fraction Of the Fun I Experience Playing RTCW Over Road Runner on my Athlon 950 with a Gforce 2 Ti and Sound blaster Audigy gamer.

Console systems were made for Kiddies , so Go out and Build yourself a Man's Gameing system.
