| Have fun...
These folks can have fun with my MP3 collection on my HD, as 95% of it is ripped directly from my CD collection, meaning I own the cds, therefore am not violating any copyright (directly, under the fair use laws). I have no control over who downloads what from my PC -- I don't remember which MP3 directories I've shared and what I haven't.
While ignorance doesn't excuse me, I still have no idea whether or not the person who downloaded the music deleted it from their hard drive(s) or not; if the did delete the file, then no copyright law has been broken. How do we prove whether or not the person downloading the music has KEPT the MP3s or not?
The rub? Since we've moved, I haven't unpacked more than 50 CDs (thus the point of having ripped all my CDs prior to moving...), and I would think the RIAA and the folks at BayTSP would have a BLAST weeding through the 300+ boxes in my basement that may or may not have the PURCHASED CDs in them. I guess it would be a real shame to bring them all the way down here and have them waste all their time and not have an actual case...
