It's part of the "free goods" charge, which is built into the wholesale price of the product, charged to the retailer and passed on to you!
It's a marketing strategy with the purpose of promoting the product to retailers and other industry participants. Don't ask me how promotion occurs when the product is passed out to RIAA or entertainment company employees. Word of mouth?  |
