 Not a chance in hell

The ONLY thing that Comcast is proving it's commitment to is the almighty dollar.

For Comcast to; " raise broadband rates 33% for users who don't subscribe to their television services ", smells like unfair business practices, but being the only game in town for cable service in MANY areas, they have the arrogant attitude that they can do as they please.

So far, no one has stood up to them and said; "No, you CAN'T do what you please, there are laws in this country and you have to follow them".

Until that happens, there is nothing stopping Comcast from becoming an already BIGGER monopoly then they already are....

even more price hikes

not to mention I was informed my $10 a month in discounts for bundled services as an ATTBI customer is going to be dropped as well.

It's Only Going to Hurt Cable Subscribers

Lets think about this for a minute. Comcast is offering a discount to people who subscribe to Cable TV service. If this all goes through the only outcome I can foresee is a rate hike for the Cable Subscribers to match what the non-cable subscribers are paying now. This only feeds into Comcast's hands . They will get $54.90 (whatever the cost is) from us all. They got us by the sack right now, can you imagine if we all have to pay a higher rate.

Only one thing to do really...

Anybody with any viable alternative whatsoever should simply drop Comcast. I sure know I would, but I can't get DSL here and Comcast has a cable monopoly here.

I'm on the ragged edge of going back to dial access.

The problem here is simple: no competition.

I love this "beating a dead horse" picture

Want to know why?

Because this has already been beaten to death here.

Lets face facts here. Bundled services and products have been going on for years already. What is so different about this? The fact that it is happening in midstream. The only thing is that Comcast just took over ATTBI and has the right to price its product as it sees fit. If it wants to give customers a deal if you get both TV and Internet services, then there shouldn't be a problem. The complaining you are hearing are from people who just want the Internet portion and not pay more for it. Sorry, but there is no love loss from me.

The pricing is totally legal (look at McDonalds meal deals, telephone services, and so on) and the decision is simple.

Either pay the extra money and keep your cable internet OR get both services and save a little money OR find new service.

As I said before though, this has been beaten to death in previous threads.

Comcast well you know &$&^$&

What a Great Picture. Reminds me of alot of the policies we have at work. Any way ATT bought out by Comcast that happened when I live in Briarcliff,NY they bought out Media One as soon as they took over the bill went from 13.00 dollars for basic to 38.00 for the same thing. I complained they did nothing so I cancelled. I can go with out TV I do not need TV. The only way cable companies are ever going to stop ripping the consumer off is by everyone cancelling thier cable service.

You dont have to pay

56k is available.

If enough people drop their service then they will rethink
the price hike.

Go 4 it!

I used to have Comcast, and the same day a viable alternative (Wide Open West) became available in my city, I dropped them like a hot potato. I actually went without cable Internet for a weekend, until I got WOW installed. Dial-up had never been so good.

Re: Comcast, Good.... NEVER!

I saw my first Comcast truck today in our area after they took over ATTBI. The old ATTBI trucks had Cable, Internet and Telephone Services on the side, the new Comcast truck simply said Digital Cable and High-Speed Internet. I wonder if Comcast is doing to drop the phone business they inherited with ATTBI?

This is what you get

For all of you that complained about @Home in the old days, this is what you get. Alot of you said it couldn't get any worse with @home, then ATTBI took over. Everyone was capped and prices remained the same. Then the complaining about ATTBI started and all of said it can't get much worse. Hello Comcast.
Too many people on this board have non practical solutions like starting mobs and killing people. That's foolish. People have no one to blame but themselves. Everyone keeps voting the same politicians into office time after time. Republicans, Democrats it doesn't matter. Big Business will continue to have more clout than voters unless people wake up.
