Very odd that they would go for Ku... [text was edited by author 2003-07-21 10:24:11] |

KU or not, its gonna be nice to have an alternative to Dave and Dish. With them being a regional company versus national, they're going to be in touch with the subscribers a lil more than the other two players... at least for the first year or so. -- "I did not have an affair with that woman, Monica Lewinsky" |

that is probably good news since if they become big then the consumers may see a price drop in the satellite sector... -- Come check out our new forums! |

if Cablevision offers better service and price then what Time Warner Cable of NYC Digital Service offers then i would switch to Cablevision new KU service. |

The prices only INCREASE on anything that Cablevision touches. You'll see |

Why dont you look in your local phone book or browse this site's reviews???
I find it amaizing that people are able to find dslreports.com, sign up and make an account, but are unable to find their options for ISP's. -- Dont copy that floppy. |

Now I know why we had to incur the $5 increase in OOL. $1B is a lot of money. |

If you're curious about the technology behind CV's satellite, there is some interesting discussion in the OOL forum from a CV exec that is involved in the satellite project: »Does anyone know about the sat? -- "Make it idiot-proof and someone will build a better idiot." | Do you, uh, Google? |

How many transponder licenses do they have for the 61.5 spot?
Doesn't EchoStar already have a satellite there? -- ISPs: Road Runner/Powerlink Current Status: Powerlink

11 transponders
and yes.
But what is really interesting is that Echostar doesn't own all the transponder there. They lease six of them from Sky Angel in return for carrying their bible thumper programming. Right now Sky Angel is unhappy with Echostar and is threatening to pull their use of the transponders.
Now Rainbow-1 shows up and gives Sky Angel another outlet to use if they want to. |
