 Speed

How about giving the customers better connections as well as higher speeds, Charter? Maybe you'll get more $$$ that was instead of piss-poor service with bandwidth caps(clarify if I'm wrong or not)

Higher speeds - $59.95 for 1.5/128 is absurd.

Now now, mrchris, that would make too much sense. Offering better service would surely keep customers away from an ISP; customers don't want high speeds or low bills, they want the minimal amount of speed for as much as Charter can suck from them, got to love the Charter way..

Charter slower than DSL

I love the way in the DSL vs. Cable debate one cable advantage is usually speed.

In my area of Charter Country, Charter Pipeline is 1.5/128 for $59.95 ($49.95 bundled) and BellSouth DSL is 1.5/256 for $49.95 (44.95 bundled).

That is a tough decision. Especially when I already have Dish Network.

 speed & service

Maybe we will see some improvement to speeds & service crosses fingers & toes Since it is Altanic Broadband & possibly a competitor to RoadRuner, let's hope with the sale, the speeds will be more inline with some of the others.

Ok, so who is Atlantic Broadband?

You know it's bad when a google search for "Atlantic Broadband LLC" comes up with zero hits.

Re: Ok, so who is Atlantic Broadband?

Interesting. I think what a lot of people don't realize is that when these system sales take place it is often to holdings companies, and the actual migration/transitions can take months if not years to complete. That said, I doubt any major changes will be coming in these markets in the near future. I may be wrong, but I've seen one or two of these transactions before.

I agree i did a search also found nothing. I'm one of the guys that got sold. Miami Beach. As was said it will be quite awhile till a change is seen. I'm more worried about the interactive digital t.v. part than the broadband. Here in Fla it's a nice package that works well. Also my gold broadband was costing $25.

Re: Charter slower than DSL

Ugh Charter doesn't get the idea that 2 weeks to get service to your house to replace a zapped modem is "slow". What they "do" seem to understand is that if a customer threatens to cut off service, they will magically find someone to service your computer in 1 hour.

Re: Speed

Lower the price (to $49), increase the upload to 256 or 384 and download to 2mb should do.

Sad

Its sad when your entry level package is SLOWER than Qwest DSL and more expensive than Qwest DSL.
Shame on you Charter. at least this gives these people in these areas some hope of getting decent service at a fair price.

Is this going to affect all of WV? With my luck my broadband will get worse. So far with Charter it's been up 95% of the time and 95% of my speed cap. I hope if it's does change I can get faster speeds than 1.5/128 maybe 3/512 and I'll be happy

Moving to SBC?

Rumor has it that SBC will be INCREASING their speeds (upstream and downstream) and coming out with new pricing plans. I am giving this serious consideration again since Charter's contract with Earthlink ran out, which means no more Earthlink dial-up and newsgroup access.

Charter, please increase your speeds or lower your prices before you lose another customer to DSL

This is not the last sell off

There have been many bets placed in the industry to see who will get the most of Charter..
Cox and Comcast both are drooling at the thought of buying out Charter.
It is just a matter of time to decide who get's what.

Ever wonder why so many of the Charter Execs, VP's and Directors have flown to Cox and Comcast.

I think the story of Charter will be done w/in 5 years.

Charter is like a injured animal getting picked apart by the hyenna's. They can smell the death in the air. The scent of blood is pungent.
Night is coming and the moon is arising. Come morning, we shall see which Hyenna has the larger belly.
The enemy is at the gates, waiting for darkness.
