| Anybody smell the fishyness in this? said by From artilce: Evan Cox, a partner with Covington & Burling in San Francisco who is not involved with the case, said the error most likely happened in one of two ways: Either Comcast matched the wrong customer with the IP address, or the recording industry requested information about the wrong IP address, which is usually more than nine digits.
I expected this to happen. Since the RIAA suing people depends only on information gathered, if there is a screwup on some end where a tech matched the wrong IP to the wrong timestamp (or such information) then those subpoenas are going to be totally invalidated. Not only that, but the RIAA could collect bogus data if they wanted to, suing multitudes who've never shared or much less opened a P2P application.
If this is the exception for just *one* case, how does the RIAA prove that all the other thousands of P2P users are really elitest evil pirates sharing five pieces of music?
Do you smell the fish? -- If it can be smoked, its prolly not going to be good for you.

| Evolution, people live performance-->wax tube-->record-->8-track-->cassette-->cd-->internet
this is the evolution of music distribution, whether the RIAA want disregard it or not. if people are not given an alternative, they will continue to download from p2p networks. RIAA! GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!!!!!
my hat's off to Apple for the wonderful itunes. At least they realize where music distribution is heading.

| Go back to taping your music off the radio
Time to go back to taping songs off the radio because downloading it could get you 10 to 12........
This is stuipd Kazaa sucks if you have a fast connection you really can't take advantage of it because half the people are still on dial-up (whole other argument) If the Riaa or the companies that repsent them would put up songs for download With LOADS of bandwith I would be more than willing to pay for them perhaps $20 a mo or somthing like that. I personally us WinMx and even that sucks because it's P2P don't get me wrong I love the concept for P2P but it is just way to slow. Anyways I hope the riaa does shoot itself in the foot, Honestly they aren't hurting anyone who belives that needs to step back and take a view of the big picture. The end of the day The Riaa will still be making a Lot of money.

| Re: Go back to taping your music off the radio Don't show your inability to grasp the situation at hand by providing false information - Kazaa or K-lite both still provide a ton of music, that can be downloaded most times to the peak of your d/l bandwidth. Just because someone who is sharing a file is on dial up doesn't matter on Kazaa, because there are 25+ other people sharing the same file. So your d/l will gather chunks from whomever is sharing the chunks you need, regardless of bandwidth. You are thinking of limewire and/or the old napster which literally connects 2 peeps to u/l-d/l a single file. and when that person disconnects your file is left hanging. | |

| Uh...
Could be one of her grandsons, that was visiting her, and downloaded kazaa and music. This needs more investigation. Still, the piracy of music born long ago along with the tape recorders and the physical music market anyway. I dont think it will never stop, and stopping it is just a way the capitalism uses to make the richs even richier and the poor, miserable AND completely dumb, without any culture.
