| I want my 2-way Internet More upload, no ban on servers. Price rollbacks to 1995.
Around here Comcast is using stuff that was put in place eons ago, but they've put caps in place and seen subscriber growth, yet the prices go up, up, up. Less service, higher prices.
The answer is probably some sort of regulation prohibiting ISPs from being "content providers." That seems to be where all the $$ go, trying to reinvent the Internet as a mainly-broadcast medium for their own "TV channel."
Ahh, if I could go back to TCI!

| Any cable company execs looking Any cable company execs looking at this thread? where you need to compete is on the upload. upload rates are too stingy as you have them set. minimum should be 512kbps up with no BS (ala OOL capping crap). a hard upload cap of say 10gb/mo would be ok and if exceeded there would be a temporary cap of 128/256kbps until the new billing cycle comes then original cap is returned. this should be done automatically not like the call in and beg forgiveness scheme that Cablevision has on its OOL customers. - on a side note there is really no need to be trying to compete with DSL because there are technological limits to dsl that cant be overcome(distance). with cable, if your cable company offers HSI in your area, you can get it. -- You can never be too rich, too thin or have too much Bandwidth | |

| More balance on the upload, not more down BW ... The problem is we need Comcast to double or triple the upload speed. Right now, I think 1.5 mbps for download is " OK " for now. I would like to see the up load be increased by 400 or 500 kbps, instead of a faster down load speed.
The upload speed on Comcast sucks, I tried to send a game demo to a friend and I only was getting 24 kbps. Where is this so called 256 kbps speed they promise us. It takes a few hours to send a 200 mb demo to someone. That sucks in my book. Comcast needs to open the upload to 700 kbps.
Comcast should in my opinion set the cable modems speeds to 2 mbps download and 700 kbps upload. For that type of speed I would be willing to pay $80-90 for my cable bill.

| You'll get top speed sometimes... Its nice that they are giving you all this download, but don't you realise that without an upload speed increase, most of your downloads won't be getting any faster....since most of your sources for download have the same upload.
I guess you'll be able to get more at once, but that means having more people willing just to be sending to you also -- U ::::Founder, ForeverChat IRC Network :::: »www.foreverchat.net

| Bah, I want more of everything. Bah, 3Mbps is nice, hell it's cool but I want even more! Now those same cable providers are able to provide 7Mbps business connections... why not have a descently prices 5Mbps UP and DOWN offering for residential customers. I'd be willing to shell $80/month if I could get some sick upload (so I can run even more servers at home)! Anyways, one thing that I'd like to see being talked about is how high all those broadband technologies can go... | |
