Next year, we will probably be setting another record. As technology evolves and people find challenges in the system, we will start to see more of these things. Its inevitable, to put it in a Smith kinda way. |

I would not be suprised if they put it on there, intentionally. Best buy is a rip off.
The only thing I buy from there now are blank CD's and DVD's.

| A newer, safer, tighter, hacker RESISTANT OS
Well there are 2 OSes coming up in the near future with the promise to help lower Virus/worm/trojan/etc. attacks.
First off the most well known, MS is coming out with a new technology they're hoping will be more hacker resistant. From what I have read it will help, but still has bugs. It will at least stop script kiddies from having a hay day with you. Basically updating the built in firewall to be more like ZoneAlarm, allowing incoming and outgoing packet control, including ports and protocol. The neatest thing I read, was the "smart OS" technology, where if a program was created using "x" serial/digital signature and such of a software, that only that one could open or modify it. Also disabling most stupid protocols for standard users such as NETBIOS, file and printer sharing, remote desktop, and other features that came on by DEFAULT!
Then you have an OS that has potential, how good it will turn out is another story. I don't know how many are following the STI (Sony, Toshiba, and IBM) Cell, but it has a very complex architecture, similar to their multiple processor supercomputer (don't remember the name, Big Blue?, the one that beat the world chess champion). Anyway they have decided to go in on a joint venture to create a 64 bit OS to handle this processor, writing it from the ground up. Probably ending up like a *nix OS, could be another option in the near future. -- Thank you for choosing SBC Internet Services. My name is Rick. How may I help you today? |
