Great

Time for a bunch of lame threads dissing the two companies and jokes about the two crappiest joining together.

The future of AOL is ALIVE!

If MS purchases AOL, AOL will survive. It will be wayy different and maybe even shut down? Making MSN the largest Internet provider!

MS Gets Netscape

Maybe MS could buy AOL to finally destroy Netscape once and for all. Its somewhat ironic, as AOL bought Netscape primarily to use as a bargaining chip against MS when they wanted placement on the Windows Desktop.

Of course, what the hell is MS thinking about buying this sinking ship, Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer can't be as stupid as the TW execs were when they agreed to the AOL buyout!

Maybe they are thinking like Ted Nugent, he wanted to buy Muzak just to destroy it(he was sick of hearing it in every elevator he got in).

 Ms + Aol

= M.A.O.L.

Microsoft's America OnLine,... *shudders*

This would kill aol messenger, ICQ, and netscape,... on the plus side - we wouldn't be getting any more CDs in the mail (i hope).

But - we could also be coerced to download all of our updates for our OS through AOL.

If this does happen, I hope the AOL software will go away and the subscriber base be rolled over to MSN.

Highly Unlikely

Microsoft although would love to see its main competitor for dialup ISPs go away, Microsoft is not at all interested in the dial-up business.

An article was published last year that stated that MS was moving away from dialup and concentrating more on providing content for the connection providers. Thus, MS's move to partner with Verizon, Quest and others.

MS is a software company and thats all they are interested in. However, the purchase of AOL brings up a lot more possibilities for them.

Guess we just have to wait and see. I'm a big MS fan and love my MSN but I'd hate to see the two combined. All of my friends and family are AOL users and they hate that they have to carry MSN messenger to get to me but thats exactly why I left AOL. The instant you sign on people are freakin buggin ya.

I pondered that thought myself. Then it hit me. They want to buy it for the subscriber base. And like I said in my previous post, I would hope that they toss the AOL software and make everyone switch to MSN.

All the better to lead the Noobs by the hand with.

OK let me get this straight Microsoft may buy AOL? And folks already thought the Bundling wasn't bad enough? Now Microsoft will have an ISP (of sorts). All the easier to hold all the newbies and noobs hands, and guide them into the wonderful world of computers and the internet.

From their first operating system. To their first browser and email client. To their fist internet account AOL dialup. Then to Broadband, more than likely one of these "lite" (CRAP) packages that is so popular among Broadband marketers right now. Oh yeah they'll provide the content. Buying another computer no problem just buy a Microsoft Router.

Arggggggggggggggggh where does it end?........... Oh wait It Doesn't! In short they'd lead so many of their costumers along by the hand or maybe its like a dog on a leash. And have them believing that they couldn't do any of it without Microsoft. Can you say Cash Cow? Dear God I think I'm going to be sick!
