| 1,500/384 Package
Since you brought it up, VOL should start upgrading this package to 3,000/384. Compared to the rest of the industry the price they charge for this tier is a rip-off. There aren't a heck of a lot of customers who opt for this package. It might be a good place to start line upgrades.

1 edit | 384K :) upload
The 384Kbps Upload is what the power users are "really" clamoring for -- I wouldn't shed a tear if 1.5Mbps remains the max download rate -- it would still blow away cable.

If they have pushed out the 1.5 speeds to 18K feet, have they also pushed out the distance limit for the lower tier speeds? |

I really don't mind the 1.5/128 package, but it would be nice to get a 256 UL cap.(or more) -- Kerry for President? Is this Saturday Night Live? |

It probably has something to do with one being mostly Former Bell Atlantic while the other is former GTE. |

| Can we call the change in?
So is this the same deal when VOL went to 1.5Mbps/128kbps and down to $35/month and we could accelerate the change by calling them? Or is this something we all have to sit around for and pray it happens to us soon.
The prior threshold was 12,000 and I was 12,400. Damn 400 feet! |

join:2001-11-19 Hornell, NY | Yeah, If you are under 12,000 ft and currently qualify for 1.5/384 they could probably upgrade you now, but that is IF they want to. Most likely they will just wait until the 15th when everything up to 18,000 ft shows qualified. |

Different deployed hardware & architecture. Not sure why it happened that way but there's always been differences between V-east & V-west. Prior to this those diffs were most often impacted end-users when they relocated across the divide and, upon arrival, discovered they couldn't continue to use their same dsl modem. |

Ive been with DSL extreme for a few months now. Im at 16,500 and get a solid 1400/138. I also qualify for the 1500/384. Not sure what the 14.4 limit is all about. Anyone else farther than 14.4 and get the 1500/128 teir on in the SO CAl area? |

1 edit | east coast loop spec has always been 18Kft
every m&p ive seen for the last 3 yrs has loop qual listed out to 18kft. ive been doing dsl trouble report field visits during that time as well. we have always used 18kft as the maximum distance allowable, but the business office tries to sell it out much much further than that. please keep in mind that just because the company says youre qualified, doesnt mean youll actually get those speeds all the time, if ever. many factors determine tx/rx rate and distance/attenuation is but one of those factors. not to mention engineers who continually qualify loaded prs. dsl is always sold on the "best effort" scenario and they really guarantee nothing. -- I am not Herbert. |
