| Whats in a Revoltion?
Well, IM still wondering about the "Revolution." Nintendo said that it would change the way games were played. What does that mean. I try to think of what they could possible do to change the way games are played but I can't think of anything. I look at the DS and I never thought of that when they hinted at another console/handheld. I read this post on another web site: "Now this is just from me and my own head, so don't take this that I heard this anywhere else on the internet but there was a recent mailbag on CUBE.IGN.COM where IGN hinted that they have no idea how the new "Revolution" from Nintendo would look or what would be so unique about it. But IGN is always giving hints and it would seem no different in this case. They said, and I quote, "And the company keeps dropping hints that Revolution will not be a traditional video game system as know them; it may not require players to sit in front of a television with controllers." I hadn't considered it before, but maybe their next console is hoping to latch on to their GBA market. Maybe the next console will allow you to use your console on the TV, but also use it as a handheld? Kind of far-fetched, but the GC is already semi-portable as far as size and carrying, maybe they are going to cram it down to the size of a portable DVD player and allow you to play either way. That would be awesome. Maybe the system is the controller and you can either play on the attached screen or hook it up with a TV out. Maybe the rumored specs we've been seeing with the new GBA (which supposedly dwarfs the DS and the PSP) due out in 2006, same year as the N5, are in fact a hybrid console."
"I doubt it's true because Nintendo has always been more successful in the handheld market than they have in the consoles. Why would they want to risk that success. Still, something to think about." »mb9.theinsiders.com/ffanhomefrm1···38.topic It a good idea but it's just an idea. I want to hear some other opinions of the revolution might have in store for us. We all know that the PS3 and XBox 2 are going to be the same just with better hardware. (Unless I have missed something.)I want to see your creative side. I want to take in all possible ideas. Even if it is crazy!!

| Re: Whats in a Revoltion?
Cube IGN has heard that the Revolution will be able to connect to your computer screen. (A guy at ATI told them.)They also talked to someone that is working on REV (Revolution) and they said that REV won't have any kind of screen on it. As to what the revolution might have, well I think it would be cool if it had wireless technology integrated into it. You would then,(like the DS) be able to connect to a wireless connection to play with people thouands of miles away. Also, you could do the whole wireless LAN thing but the cool thing would be if when you turn on your REV with a game that has LAN ability, that it will atomaticaly look for any other REVs with the same game running. Then you could send a instant message to that person and ask them if they would like to play. If they accept then you can start playing atomaticaly with out any cords or having to setup anything like ip addresses. Im not very good at the whole networking thing so this might not even be possible.

| RE:Revolution I have heard that Nintendo plans on using gyroscopes in Revolution's controllers, this would allow them to move on the Z-axis. Imagine playing a first person shooter by just pointing your hand like a gun. (Think something like those gloves in Minority Report) Nintendo first became interested in gyroscope technology in September 2001 when they invested large sums of money into Gyration(spelling?) Inc. | |

| Sony-wrongright-Xbox-opininatedfacts-Nintendo Nintendo lasted and lives on releasing their classic games. Hey,you! mature adult guy, You dont like nintendo's kiddy games? Then dont F'N buy them. Get the ZELDA,METROID,HITMAN, HITMAN 2,Spider Man 2,
RE0,RE1,RE2,RE3,ETERNAL DARKNESS,METAL GEAR SOLID THE TWIN SNAKES,
those I say off the top of my head. ALSO: NINTENDO is the creator of ETERNAL DARKNESS, a quite mature game. Oh yea heres some other games coming:Metroid Prime2, ,Zelda(featuring mature link),Starcraft Ghost,Killer 7.
It would seem Nintendo aims to cater to more than just kids. Would you be emberassed to be playing Extreme G3 racing or DragonballZ: Budakia: or hey 1 sec... I just need to slaughter these zombies, I'll be right there. Plus racing games I've experianced are most fluid accros the existing three consoles on GameCube wich is fastest and has the best graphics Nintendo DOES have mature games. That seemed to be the biggest thing you people had accross the board. And I just solved it for you, aren't I nice:)?
I'm sure this'll probly piss off some Sony extremist fan boy but those are the facts.
P.S.: I own the in order I got them:PS1,Nintendo,Gameboy Advance, Gamecube, N64, Super Nintendo, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Genisis,Xbox.
So hah I like all systems but Nintendo is number one for originality, quality, enjoyability, for games and just games. That's why Nintendo and Sega are my favourites, and why in my oppinion=Sony ruined the gaming market. They killed Sega the bastards .......pisses me off anyway, I gotta get back to beating all the Zeldas, all the metroids, All the 2D marios, and all the Final Fantasies.Later.

| quality is the question to me its all about the product quality and PS2 and xbox simply don't have it. has anyone heard any stories about gamecubes suddenly refusing to read their discs, or up and dying less than a year after they were purchased. I work in the gaming dept. at wallmart, all i do is talk GC vs PS2 and xbox all day every day, but i haven't heard one bad story about the GC, while the PS2 and xbox chapters could fill volumes, PS2 especially. my gamecube took a fall six feet off of the top of an entertainment center onto a hardwood floor(THANKS A BUNCH JASON!), but I turned it over, reset it, and we continued with our smash bro. tourney unphased. to this day all I had to do is replace the fourth port(it fell face first) and have still had no other problems. i got it the christmas after it came out. its true that nintendo's pr campaign sucked a** and was short sighted as a fleas dick, but hopefully they have realized their mistake and learned, as long as their quality stays top notch(the PSP is gonna bomb so badly because of bad quality, i can't wait, just nuclear in sony's face) and they continue with the excellent game tittles(super smash all the way) we can expect to see nintendo for a long time. the DS looks interesting, i hope it can stand up like the gameboy's proven durability, but the proof will be in the games that are released and how feasable its tie ins are. I admit that the gameboy/GC link was cool but completely unworkable, I have both FFcrystal cr. and zeld 4 swords and a gameboy, and the games do rock the house, but I'm the only one I know with a gameboy and these games are meant to be played with friends, online versions where four can party together would have been a much better alternative. as far as xbox and ps2 are concerned i own one of each and i like the fact that their controlls are more fps friendly, though GC is more comfortable, and ps2 and xbox have some great games, Halo(though I still like perfect dark on N64 best) and FF series, and xbox live is the greatest thing to happen to console games with online fighting games etc, all these are nothing if the damn thing is broken or can't read the disc! I can't afford to keep getting them fixed all the time, i'd rather go without. my ps2 controlls don't last very long while the GC are cheaper and have stood up to just as much abuse. the xbox contoller-s is ok but for halo i prefer the perfect fps controller(looks like two gun handles) as a matter of fact the disc drive in my cousin's xbox just died less than a year and a half after he bought it, now he is out another billfifty to replace it so that his games don't go to waste! like I said, its all about product quality! | |

| Hmm... personal opinions I currently own all three consoles. Just recently picked up a ps2. I love the gamecube for its core titles. Zelda, mario, and the assorted others. They are all great games, kiddy or not. The ps2 is alright. Its got a lot of games, a lot of which are crap, but with so many there are bound to be a few great games. The xbox i have is for one reason only. Modding. 95% of the games for xbox are crap. And don't try to say they aren't. Name a game for xbox, that is only for xbox, and then see how many crappy games there are. Modding the xbox is a great thing. I get free games, which i know isn't legal, but i do buy the games i feel i need to support, like prince of persia, but then also it can be a tv out for my computer. I can watch any video form my computer on ym tv through the great tv out on the xbox. And that's all i have to say. | |

| Nintendo Ok, how many Mario, Metroid, Zelda and Donkey Kong games GC oweners have to play? Nintendo needs to take a hint, besides, I have been playing games for 25 years, from arcades to the atari 2600, so, its just the same thing over and over with better graphics. The gameplay for games now is less challenging than 15 years ago. Now its more like watching a movie for 3 hours and actually playing for 1 hour with newer games. Remember the old days when you had 3 or 5 lives and only one or two continues to beat the game? Sure, you could use some Game Genie codes to give you an edge, but that was about it. 2 people could play a game for hours or even days before beating it. I would say about 80% of the games for all consoles are 1 player which suck. Not to mention that the console wars and the title manufactures are actually killing the Arcade scene. How? Well, now its more cheaper to make a million PSII ir XBOX games than make a few new hundred thousand arcade games, ship them, set them up in an arcade room and then make a profit. In the long run, the arcade scene is slowly dying. Am I wrong? Then go to your local arcade, check out how many new arcades are in the place. Very few, mostly you'll find games from the last 15 years, but hardly anything new. But, this is just my opinion and it only counts if you want it to. | |

| Everything I dropped something on my PS2 on accident and the game inside was destroyed. My friend's PS2 fell 2 feet and broke. My gamecube has experienced similar accidents and is still great. I have to say that the PS2 is a pretty lousy system. It has some good games, but so does gamecube. The DVD player feature on systems is also dumb. Everyone keeps this in mind when buying a system but I call it a con. Gameplay isn't nearly as good as it was back when we were all playing our Saturns and SNES's. XBOX is a system with decent features but almost no good games. I enjoy playing Halo as much as everyone else, but Microsoft should get out of the console business. XBOX is crap Everyone refers to Nintendo as "Kiddie Games," but almost all of these companies have the same games. There aren't enough unique games on XBOX either. Nintendo has its slew of classics, Sony has FF, even though Nintendo has repartnered with Square (YAY!), but XBOX really only has Halo and some stuff nobody except super Microsoft fanatics care about. Sega... Sega was awesome. They had better consoles and awesome games. Game gear rocked, Dreamcast rocked, Genesis rocked... (That was off topic, back to the peaceful rant.) Nintendo would probably be first place worldwide if they got FF and DDR. I am a die-hard Nintendo fan, so you don't have to listen to me, but I'm right! (To go back off topic...) They should have made Chrono Trigger and SMRPG for GBA. That would have made me way too happy. Anyway. I hope you appreciate my points even though everyone else has made them. I'm just here to back some people up with a longish post. | |

| Nintendo Revolution The Nintendo Revolution had better be revolutionary. Nintendo are more than capable of coming up with something that will make everyone say wow!! Just like the DS. But for the Revolution there is no second chance there simply must be: * More third party games, eg GTA is a MUST * Scrap the kids image. Nintendo are being classified as this wrongly, so ditch the image others are giving you * Looks are very important, As innovative as the cube was ppl still find ways to slate it, eg colours, style. NINTENDO ppl find this important! something extremely stylish and adult looking for some that is silver/black wud be good. *Features, really pull out all the stops here make the console truly revolutionary * any other ideas? | |

| Why Nintendo is third.
Okay, I'm not gonna get all techy or businessy here, I'm just a regular nintendo gamer. I own all the systems including handhelds. I have to admit that the n64 and Gamecube(so far) have dissapointed me a bit.:( I don't care of DVD playback at all, online is a curiousity but not necessary, the main reason in my opinion is the lack of games, especially the more adult kind. It SUCKS!
I love Nintendo, but this is serious , I need more adult games, make friends with all the game companies outthere, Playstation has tons of games, what the hell?! , the Super NES had the best library of games that I've seen, doesn't Nintendo understand?
I have very high expectations for the "Revolution", hopefully they will learn from the mistakes. Thanks!:)

| ? nintendo a bit kidy.. let tell you something people about games and were they come from hmmmmmmm..... kids!!! games were designed for kids i have all three systems and i like how ps2 and gc keep it real with og game dessigners and titles and how i had two buy ps2 twise cause disk damage and burns made by game play.. i take care of my games but doese the hardware do its part...i ll buy an x box game along with a ps2 game along with a fomicon(nintendo) game and check if there is any scratches and i will find more scratches on the big disk... what iam saying is that nintendo approach with the technology and its durability is excelent,...i am a gamer i like metriod over halo anytime.. way more puzzles and real game play.. if you have all systems and take care of your games (like put them back on ther case) youl see when you compare that gc desinged is better.. | |

| Why not .......... In this next console why doesnt nintendo explore virtual reality stuff like the virtual boy did but with todays graphics. Imagine first person shooters with a virtual reality visor thing. And what ever happened to Perfect Dark for the N64 that was the most exiting and interesting multiplayer game there was and there is no sequel on a more updated console. | |

| hmmm I think that is exactly what Rev. will be. A virtural-boy like system. Do any of you own one? I do. I think i'm one of the three who do. the system was BEYOND a flop. Nintendo barely even awknowledges its existance anymore. It gave you a headache to play, you couldn't see the buttons you were pressing on the controller (made the learning curve IMMENSE) the sound was crap, and you only saw in red. One day ALL video and music will be on headset type things (think total immersion in the experience), is this the first REAL step? | |

| Revolution... Maybe
OK... Been reading the posts so far and gotta say you guys are all WAAAAY too serious about the tech specs and sales, and not enough interested in the E-Factor: Entertainment
Just for the techies though, some thoughts on NRev...
1) A video adapter which allows for a more standardized connection : S-Video, with an adapter for computer monitors 2) Broadband built-in for a reason : Future home-grown Nintendo titles would be available only as online titles. The DVD drive (yes, it MUST have one) would be for OTHER manufacturers' games 3) A complete revision of how we currently interact with the system. Nintendo has been mum on this point(likealmost everything ELSE about NRev) but it will almost DEFINITELY include changes to the controller. It will almost certainly NOT look like anybody else's controller system. No word on the whole z-axis thing. 4) WIRELESS GAMING
Just my two-cents worth...

| Who really follows consoles? Seriously - who REALLY follows consoles? It's all about software - games. This is the real reason why Sega died. Sure it may have had some fun games - but not as many as Nintendo. The console war will be won not by specs, but by clever - and fun - games. Better specs give developers more space to play, but they are not a definitive win. Just look at Game Gear vs. GameBoy. I'd like to see a list of developers for Revolution.
Personally, I consider myself a gaming whore, since I follow mostly SquareEnix's Final Fantasy series. Wherever they go, I follow. They're the ONLY reason I bought a PS1 and PS2. I have an NES, and a SNES, but never an N64. My wife got me a GameCube for Valentines day due to Crystal Chronicles. Now, sadly, I'll have to get an Xbox 2 since the original maker of the FF series will be developing for them.

| Quit yo bitchin
all of you need to quit bitchin about how this console is better than that. im 20 yrs old and i have all three and i love them all. i grew up with Nintendo so naturally i bought a GC because its a Nintendo and besides i like to play those kiddie games every now and then. ps2 and the xbox all have great game titles also so i bought each of them so i could play them. but however i do like the xbox more because of the hard drive. yes its big and bulky but you don't need a memory card and that is awesome. im not a loyalist to any of those consoles. yes one is cheaper than the other and so on but what it boils down to is what you can afford. unless mommy and daddy are paying for everything. lastly for all of you that say that the xbox is just a pc your right! so is the GC and PS2. they all have processors and memory, like a pc. so what does that make them? a PC!!! minus the hard drive on the ps2 and gc but that's what memory cards are for. so to end my speech i will say shut the hell up, drink a brew and play your games, because that's what i do, because in the end consoles will eventually die off due to those desktop pc's. i n my opinion. so cheers to gaming, its a wonderful thing!
PS. if it means anything i own a dream cast also and it too is awesome.:)
