The best way that they could improve their image was to roll a truck and replace the cable run to her apartment in the DC area. She is an HSI and TV services subscriber - neither seem to work terribly well for her at intermittent times.
Which brings up another point: No matter *what* kind of service company your run, it is simply not service at all if there is reluctance to resolve problems. Let alone having willing and competent customer support at the end of your 800 number call center. ;>
At least give your customers the illusion of the above, and you will go farther. *snicker* -- Nothwest Arkansas' ONLY all Techno Radio Webcast, powered by SBC DSL! |

Most of these programs suck, the network stay with them because they are cheap to produce and people get off on watching other people suffer.

All they have to do is compare bills at the end of each month and I know which I'll take:
Comcast cable (not even digital) TV: $47.63 Internet: $42.95 + modem rental $3.00 total (before taxes): 93.58
Comcast digital classic: $57.58 + rental/prog fee ($5.00 x 3) Internet: $42.95 Total: $115.53
DirecTv: $39.95 + (2x $5.00 extra receivers) DSL (SBC or DSL-EX): $26.95 Total: $76.90
Note: None of these include the 'taxes' or USF fees. Also, there was no charge for equipment or installation on DirecTv or SBC DSL. I did pay $16.95 for S&H on the equipment. Comcast wanted installation fees of at least as much.
Also to note: SBC and DSL Extreme is 384-1500/128-256 (I receive 1310/210, and at the same time Comcast was 1500/384 for its service. I belive they have increased their speed since. |

They can come to my house and I can show them my crappy analog channels which have been plagued with problems that Comcast refuses to fix. Here's the list of things they've blaimed for the problem:
1. My TiVo 2. My TV 3. Sunlight hitting the satelite they get their programming from. 4. Wiring in my house (even though the problem shows up when I plug my TV into the drop) 5. Pretty much everything except themselves. --

LOL... I was so disappointed with the idea of that show when I realized that they all actually survive. LOL yipes, i've got 10 bucks that says this'll make their image worse, they cant redeem themselves in my eyes, i've already dealt with their crap cable and crap isp, about the pricing post...what about the GOOD package for them? DirecTV's good packages are pretty expensive, i'd still say they're better than comcast but 39.95 is sorta misleading because thats the craptacular package, secondly to morac OUCH, sunlight hittin their satellite???? didnt they plan for that? i mean satellites are outside arent they? lol, i feel for you man, why dont you go for anything else? stuff blocking your view of the sky? or just nothing available in the area? |

LOL @ #3, if sunlight were *not* hitting the satellites they would have huge problems, as there would be no power to beam anything anywhere. Sounds to me like total CS ineptitude. -- Time is an abstract concept invented by carbon based life forms to monitor their constant decay.-Thunderclese |

| It is the technology stupid.
Right now I have tivo with derect tv and it is awesome.
Direct tv will have HD tivo before comcast ever does. And the HD reciever I have from comcast sucks when compared to my direct tv/tivo box.
The directv sounds better and there are only afew HD comcast channels in my area anyway. |

Isn't Time Warner threatening to sue a DSL provider on the East coast, for advertising their service is better than TW?
And I've had Comcast here in Sarasota. Gave it a full month, then gladly hooked back up with DirectTV. I wouldn't use Comcast here even if it was free. Maybe it is better in other areas.

I guess I wouldn't exactly be considered jaded...in fact I just had a very good experience with Comcast and their service.
I had just bought a new HDTV and picked up a HD cable box. I got it all hooked up only to get the dreaded "One Moment Please" message on all of the HD channels. I called CS and set up a truck roll. It was scheduled for 8-11AM the following Saturday. The technician was there at 8:30, diagnosed the problem as being a bad/low signal from the main junction box (-14 on the low channels, -21 on the high). He set up a network technician truck roll for the next day (Sunday). At 9 AM, the network guy is out there fixing the problem. He even ran a new like from the box to my house. Problem solved.
Now if they would just organize their channels in a somewhat logical fashion, I'd be ecstatic. -- A member of -The Outfit-. |

This is true, but it only happens twice a year when the Sun for the few days it takes it to transit behind the orbits of the Geo Synchronous satellites. Crummy service the 8 months I have been a customer. Reasons given by techs: 1. Cell phone tower 2 blocks up 2. Police dispatch tower 3 blocks up 3. Sunspots 4. My wiring 5. I used a signal splitter (they installed it) 6. Several others
Prices: Charter cable basic expanded with no digital $49.95 Internet $49.99 plus $9.95 modem rental Total: $ $99.50 plus tax and franchise fee
Directv $39.99 BS DSL $39.99 Total: $79.98 plus tax
Better service with directv than cable "priceless" |

It's probably because they have to pay someone to promote their service. If the service was decently competitive, I would think about it just to be on TV. |
