Sad...

Hmmmm... Don't mean to bash here too much, but there was no need for riot gear when Dems met, but now Republicans get together and there will be problems. Dems are less protested than Republicans - make your own conclusions.

I just hope all of us here will get off our geeky asses and go vote.

wow

That's pretty cool, seems a little partisan that it's only now being brought out for the Repub convention and wasn't done for the Dem's one though

Re: Sad...

Well if your theory is correct then who would be the people causing the problems? Ahhhh yes anti-Bush people.
So you blame Bush anyway I guess.

"The high-tech system, so far only used by the service, was purchased after the Sept. 11 attacks and used for the first time during the Democratic National Convention in Boston last month."

Jamming

Oh course the point of this experience is to determine how to jam technology like this.

The sat uplink might be hard. But the cellular should be a known item.

That's because it's NYPD, they don't take chances with anyone. If the Dems has their convention in NYC, they would be doing the same. It's not just about people being roudy, but also the spectre of terrorism is on the minds of those administrating security for the residents and visitors of New York City during this high profile event.

What an idiot the Democrats had ALL of the protestors caged behind razor wire, and they where not let anywhere near the convention site.

Re: Sad...

So? The Bushies have been doing that for all their meetings...they invented the "free speech zones".

That said, I really don't quite get the need for WiFi helmets...the Republicans lock up all their non-supporters in designated areas 7-9 miles away from the event. Let 'em go nuts behind the chain link and razor wire. :P

 What about local NY Police?

"homefatherland security officers see"

What is up with that? What's wrong with the NY police?

Sleep Tonight, You're Safe

I wonder how they patrol the streets when they need 200 COPS just to keep Madison Square Garden (RNC Arena) safe. I wonder, how many cops do they have for us average New Yorker's and Jersey people? If you answered far less, you hit the nail on the head. The truth is they don't give a crap about us Average Joe's.... But when the big rich politicians come to town, they have 200 cops patrolling a small area. If only they worked this hard to patrol the rest of New York, I wouldn't be asked to buy crack 5 times while I walked in a park on a Sunday afternoon.

I seem to remember whacked out freaky protesters at the DNC that were smearing dog crap on themselves so that the police wouldn't want to touch them. That was only a couple of weeks ago, it shouldn't be that hard to remember. My own conclusion? Anonymous Democrat partisans are Saddddd.

I see your grasp of the facts is about as accurate as
Flap-Jack Kerry. You are talking about exactly what the Democraps
did in Boston.
