Great Response

That response was one of the best I have ever read

That's a pretty funny response. I have to wonder though, is it really legal to host copyrighted movies in Sweden, as they say in the response? I can't imagine that it's legal, so it looks like "The Pirate Bay" is setting themselves up for some real legal trouble by responding and getting the lawyers' attention.

ROFL, that response was hilarious, especially that last
part about retractable batons. I won't repeat it all here
as my post might get moderated or deleted.

My guess is it's illegal for whoever is doing the posting, but the ISP, as a neutral content provider, could probably not be held liable.

Re: Hah

Yes, but a torrent tracker just catalogs what's floating around in bit torrent shares. I wonder if there's any kind of "facilitating piracy" law in Sweden. Probably not.

Amen to that....

That is the best thing I have read to date yet...

I guess that Dreamworks's group of lawyers are now trying to figure out

"Why Sweden is outside the united states?? When did this happen??"

Re: Hah

Sweden has some pretty tough laws.
It's just that they are virtually unenforceable.

IIRC You basically have to admit to hosting/downloading the file in order to be charged. The police can hold you for questioning for a reasonable time but short of admitting your guilt that's all they can do.
This was a couple of years ago. I don't know if things changed. I have some very good friends who are Swedes.
Nice folks I might add.

Re: Great Response

Funny, for hundreds of years (atleast 2) people have wanted to come to america for its freedom and a better chance at live. Now americans are reading this post and saying, "I wanna get the fuck out of this stupid country so i can say shit like that too!"

That might not last for long.

If france succeeds in forcing ebay to remove all nazi relate stuff from their auctions because of their laws, then this is going to end up going both ways. Sweden will have to shut them down just because people in the US can access their site. I don't know about you, but I don't want other countries laws affecting people in america, and american laws affecting other countries. Eventually a stupid little country is going to pass some crazy law and will want the world to follow it.

The lawyers aren't as stupid as you may think

Sure, KEATS McFARLAND & WILSON, LLP may look like idiots for sending the notices in the first place, but it's all about the billable hours for any law firm. You bet your ass DreamWorks SKG got the bill.

The response from the Swedes was choice!

Woot! I heard that!

In the mean time, the war in Iraq continues, North Korea and Iran still are giving the US the finger, feedstocks for chemical plants continue to be at all time highs, gas prices/Politicians suck and downloads continue...

Government subsidized fiber to the premises. They really are a well governed country. Be prepared for their extreme northern location (dark winters) before you relocate. Also, the language is hard to learn.
