Re: Lucky people...

Guess what? Fiber can be throttled down to a 1.5/256 connection just like DSL or Cable. Just thought you might like to know that

Beat 'em to the punch

Take lessons from the Presidential Election.
The Bush campaign makes first strikes against the Kerry campaign with all sorts of misinformation. Kerry is then forced to refute them which makes him look 'defensive'.

Attack SBC/Comcast NOW.
Put together spots that highlight their rate increases, their poor/no service, and maybe even some rumours (you want your fees to increase AGAIN next year! It'll happen!). Force the incumbents to defend their position. They started playing dirty the first round. Your turn, muni's.

I have a friend who just moved to the Chicago area. Renting now but looking to move. I forwarded him this article in hopes that he'd strongly consider moving to your area...

Hey, another spot! "City-owned infrastructure will bring new residents, increasing tax revenues, reducing the tax burden on current residents, and bringing more income to local businesses."

Yes, i know that. But still, that would be evil for fiber, wouldn't it? Or just a way for them to make money..

You guys talk about broadband like it is CRACK!

BTW - since you brought it up, could you please back up your statements and give me ONE example where Kerry ever refuted anything that was said of him by Bush?...and what proof do you have that anything the official Bush campaign has said about Mr. Kerry has been untrue?? Lastly, how do you convince yourself of all this?

I Doubt they will....

I doubt verison will throttle thier fios down to 1.5 MB...they've spend billions trying to wire america up with fiber. They are offering 15MB down and 2 MB at 49 bucks a month. They will take the broadband market by force and couse a monopoly if the DSL and cable providers done upgrade to the new standards to come.

finally, they are doing something about broadband in the tri city area! just a couple years ago you'd have to have a wet dream to even think about broadband in the area. SBC and earthlink teased the area my parents lived in, saying DSL was availible in their area, when it wasnt. comcast HSI was a pipe dream. fast forward to present day, and both broadband options are there.

if stc, batavia, and geneva can get things in gear, FTTH will give DSL and HSI a run for it's money...and maybe trip it...and perhaps pee on them...then run away laughing...yeah, thats it:D:D:D
