I REALLY hope not. Martha is in a "Country Club" no security prison.

This scum needs to be a new inmate at the just opened for him Alcatraz Spammer's prison. Soon to house them ALL.

Get a life and promote your politics some place else. This guy got what he deserved. Spam is costing this country and others billions of dollars of years because these cretins think they can prey upon our e-mail for free. Well not any more! I hope this guys finds some good ole boys to keep him up at nights.

Amen to that. Between spam and spyware the internet is being totally destroyed. I hope to god they pursue and procescute spammers and spyware creators to such a degree that even the RIAA will be impressed.

9 years seems harsh.

Does no one else feel this way? There are far worse things he could be doing than taking 2 seconds of everyone's time to read some silly advertisement. Violent criminals get less time than that. My question is how much money did he make off of his spamming. If it was extremely high, then I suppose nine years isn't so bad.

True. There are far worse and those are the ones you should be complaining about not getting what they deserve. This guy got exactly what he deserved.

Get 'em Bubba!!

very harsh, I don't like spam either, but that is insane. Spam is no diffrent than the tons of junk mail we all get in the mailbox. Everyone I know gets about a papersacks worth a month. I would much rather less tax dollars be spent on less postal people than jailing this guy. Democrates do it again, jail people for very little reason. Think of this, not one person got hurt from spam, and 9 years of this guys life will be wasted. Anyone that sees any good from this is really a sick person. 9 years for starting a business. He would have gotten a few days for selling the crack. Maybe 3 years for un-armed robbery of a bank. 5 years for molesting a child. This stinks, stop the snail-mail junk first. Tons of wood fiber wasted. Democrates are such hypocrates. This sentence is a outrage.

Its 9 years for wasting peoples bandwidth unlawfully, wasting peoples time unlawfully, wasting peoples server space unlawfully, and unlawfully annoying over 100,000 people. Considering that, I think 9 years was rather soft. Consider thatthere are legal ways to do all of the above. Evidently he didnt, so now he gets whats coming to him. Hopefully this serves as an example to other spammers and they either A: Stop or B: fix those damned opt-out links so they actually work.

Death to spammers!

The penalty for spam should be death. No..Wait... Torture THEN death.

Spammers are the lowest form of life (even lower then canadians...)

Re: 9 years seems harsh.

9 years is NOT harsh. Look at it as if you were the admin of a small ISP. I personally admin a mail server with about 330 mailboxes on it. We recently have had to add a frontend email server to take in all email, as well as upgrade our mail server to handle the load that was being brought on. Last time I checked, a P3/600 was enough to handle email for that many mailboxes, but we started seeing over 400000 emails come in for that domain in a day, where before we were only seeing about 30000 to 60000. That server simply couldn't handle that. So look at it this way:

Labor to get new email server up and running: $600
New Email server licenses: $1500
New Email server: $2000
New Email gateway (with spam protection): $4000
Getting rid of a spammer: PRICELESS!

I hope more people who admin email servers with small amounts of users can back me up here. It is awful that spammers have charged us that much money in the past several months! It is a felony (at least in the state of Texas) to steal something worth over $50. Their $8100 is well over that $50, so they should have a class A felony on their record for what they did.

You can bash my opinion if you want, but only do so if you have the credentials, because otherwise you are wasting your time.
