It will never stop.
No matter the lawsuits, no matter the attempted enforcement. Stopping this type of behavior is next to impossible. Sending of DMCA notices to foreign countries only makes the sender seem like a jackass.
Embracing the technology, as has been said hundreds of times over, is the way to go. Yet, no one (at least not the big players) in the entertainment industry seems to understand this. |

They didn't say in their press event....
I'd guess at least a few hundred to a thousand to start with. Like the RIAA though they'll have to file John Doe suits by IP, so people aren't going to even know they've been sued until a court gives them the green light..... -- Vote Palpatine/Skywalker '05: Moral Values for the Republic! |

HEY EVERYONE I HAVE THE SAFE SOLUTION TO FILE SHARING YOU WILL NEVAR GET SUED OMG : don't do it
but rly, i wonder who the target audience is, i only DL ones that i think i might like. I doubt it will be like the RIAA ::when was the last time you saw thousands, hundreds sure, but thousands of movies. If they are going the B.T. Route (I.E.) Repeate offenders this rules out those in private BT communities but oh well lets just wait and see. |

| Scare Tactics
I agree with the poster who said that they are using "scare tactics". They have all these suits getting a couple thousand a week, the least they can do is let them write some letters. It's the same tactics that Satellite TV uses on the people that "steal" their signal!
BTW Did anyone ever stop to think just how few people are downloding movies and songs? You have to be a real techno freak to know how to do all that stuff. Try to setup a P2P program, and you run into all the problems with OS and firewalls, etc.
Finally if you stop to figure that to download a stupid movie will take a couple of hours, then why not just go rent it for 3.99 at blockbuster or on pay-per-view.
The greedy people that have been exploiting the music an movie industries for rent want the whole loaf, not just half...That's the problem.
If someone wants to do an honest survey they would probably find that most people that download music and movies are the ones that cannot afford the 40.00 to take the wife and 2 kids to the movie, which again is way too costly.
Heard enough of this.

| Because the movie theaters make 95% of their money of popcorn, soda, and candy sales. They make VERY little of showing a movie, that's why the price for refreshments is stupidly high. Allowing people to buy a movie the day it was released would be nice, but would put theaters out of business. |

Enforcing copyright law is NOT a scorched Earth policy despite the BULL in this story title. It's simply enforcement of law as it should be. You ain't seen nothing yet if you're a criminal... You steal you go to jail like any other common criminal. Better get use to it, cause nobody is going to allow theft of copyright protected works. |

If the movie theater doesn't offer an experience that will keep the seats filled, they should be closed down. My Home Theater system is better than my local theater's.
The reason they're not releasing movie's for sale at the same time, is they lose the ability to charge people multiple times for the same movie. Now, they get $8-$12 (per person) for the movie ticket, $3-$6 for people to watch it on pay-per-view before it comes out on DVD, and either $2-$5 bucks for a rental, or $15-$20 to sell, then an additional $15-$25 for the special, extendid, unrated, director's cut (with the 3 minutes of additional footage).
As long as Movie Theaters are making so much money, they will never change their model. Let's not forget, Box Office records have once again been broken this year. It will be interesting to see if they start to drop after filing lawsuits. |

when are people gonna realize kazaa and these other programs where you upload the file is just asking for trouble. Newsgroups are the way to go... $15 a month for all the movies (dvdr, divx, svcd), tv shows, games, software, and porn you can handle at blazing fast speeds. And since currently they only sue people who upload the files you won't get sued. That and the fact that no logs are kept by most reputable newsgroup providers.
