Didn't we start he internet? I believe we did, and I also believe that US owned companies control the majority of the internet. So I honestly do not believe that the control should go to the UN ever.
As far as the pass ICANN, there's alot that can be improved. I think they can be a lil more harsh on violations, and should of canceled verisigns contract to be a root server as soon as sitefinder was launched.
It will only come down to one thing though, time. We will see who has the better package, but I do not wish to see the US lose control of the internet. |

We don't need ICANN or the UN "managing" the Internet in any way, shape or form. ICANN couldn't give a rat's @$$ about domain transfer security and has mismanaged many other things (e.g., not yanking NSI's domain management contracts for their SiteFinder BS). The UN is just well, the UN. -- Hey Fast Eddie... you're next! |

If the UN has a problem with the Internet then BUILD YOUR OWN. I can't stand these UN bitches telling us what to do with our country. We created it so we get to control is. Why don't you go do something useful and take care of North Korea. |

I saw we use the internet as a bargaining tool. If there is any country that we don't get along with, then we give them a choice - either do what we say or we will yank the internet. I am sure most countries around the world would be much more willing to negotiate if we offered them that.
If all else fails - use the nukes. :-P |

I'm reading all this talk about control of the internet. Remember that DNS != the internet. Sure the internet is dependent on dns and the root servers run by icann. If the UN wants to, they can start running their dns root servers with their own tld. |

Such a pointless post, why don't we compare apples to grapes, or chickens to goat. I notice the internet is not on that list, though I think some of the things ont he list are used more so then the internet, such as the Rubber Band. But again, has my country tried to tell your country how to run the rubberband factories? -- "Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising everytime we fall." - Confucius - - - - - - - - - - - Streamfire.net- - AIM - CoNFuCiUsNiCk |
