o how wonderful.. 11 million downloads and probably only 2% are actually using it
i wonder if it even paid off infesting 10,000 sites, with people trying to shove the browser down your throat. if people wanted it, im sure they can find it. -- BBR Gaming Server Admin. gaming.broadbandreports.com |

Wasn't it more like 10% or something? Also, IE comes with Windows, so if anybody is trying to shove a browser down your throat it would be Microsoft. |

| Firefox... meh...
Yeah Firefox isn't all that its cracked up to be. I find MAXTHON (»www.maxthon.com) to be a much better alternative.
In any case though, i must admit that the 2 page add is UBBER COOL!
Good Job Firefox! -=OC=- |

| 10,000 Contributors?
Did these people "pay" to have their names contributed, or just to be listed??
If they paid, then that is quite sad. What with AIDS, cancers, famine, civil strife, and all other maladies affecting mankind, it is quite sad people have contributed towards an ad touting a web browser of all things, when there are more important concerns to be worried about! Shame. -- "Canada is a good model for where the world needs to go in the 21st century" -- US Pres. Bill Clinton, Aug. 5, 2004, Toronto ON. |

| A True Confession
I must admit, that I was doubtful of Mozilla and Firefox when I first started to use them. It was like a new world, and some things didn't look as pretty in them as it did with IE. But now I can't imagine going back to IE. The browsing is faster, smoother, multi-tabbed, and just all around more secure. I encourage any IE user to try Mozilla, and learn the keyboard shortcuts. you do have a choice not to use the browser if you do not want to.. just like when you buy a new computer which comes with 30 gigs of useless software.. doesn't mean you have to use it. -- BBR Gaming Server Admin. gaming.broadbandreports.com |

Okay so people can't contribute to new businesses? It's not like these people aren't giving to other worthy charities. You talk like people in America can only pick one cause to put money down on. |

Some things you can throw money at till you die, and it makes no difference. Some people believe in supporting a cause like Firefox, so therefor they throw money at it. If you can convince them to believe that throwing money at AIDs, or some other research will be life fulfilling to them, and might change the world, then you might have yourself a case. -- "Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising everytime we fall." - Confucius - - - - - - - - - - - Streamfire.net- - AIM - CoNFuCiUsNiCk |

Ive been using IE for what, like 10-12 years now, and never had a problem. What are all the Firefox people going to do when hackers start writing exploits for FF? |

| reply to dadkins Simple you'd have gone to a book store - purchased a manuscript that contained the source for Fire Fox, opened notepad, typed it in, compiled it (fixed any typos) and then voila!
I use FF btw.
Seriously though if MS didn't include IE then more people would have to learn how to use terminal FTP clients to download stuff they wanted.

| Trying to wean people off M$ programs
Other people have said Avant (or insert favorite browser here) but for the masses that think the world begins ends and is controlled by M$ the marketing of Firefox is a massive step.
For anyone that downloads and looks at it will be more likely to compare open-source alternatives next time rather than just sticking with the M$ bundled package read: WMP, OE, as well as Office etc.
It may be a slow process but its difficult to break a stranglehold, especially when M$ are the ones doing the strangling, the bundled software makes users lazy, whcih was the idea. |
