Would this new anti-spyware program replace another program i.e. Ad-aware, or will it just be additional protection. |

1 edit | This could be good
With real-time protection and updating, I believe this could be a real help in the fight against spyware, especially if Microsoft pushes this as an optional download through Windows update. For the people who only know to download Ad-aware and run it when their computer gets bogged down, this may be able to prevent a lot of problems from happening in the first place.
I just hope Microsoft does the right thing: give it away for free. Even if they make it like PhotoStory 3 and require verification of a legal license, that would be great. |

| anti-virus next?
The thing that gets me is, soon they will provide anti-virus. Do you trust microsoft to come out with definitions on time and good enough? Do you trust them in saying that there is a security hole in windows, another one of their products, that lets it happen? If the 'spyware' and 'antivirus' divisions play hardball with the windows guys, then that would be great news. but i doubt it will happen -- -Jeff |

| Why Atlanta?
I wonder if any MS reps have really seen the number of individuals in the Atlanta area with spyware. I used to do onsite service, well I still do, just not as much, and spyware / adaware is a huge problem for all of my clients (which are all in the Atlanta area). -- "Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising everytime we fall." - Confucius - - - - - - - - - - - Streamfire.net- - AIM - CoNFuCiUsNiCk |

2 edits | Yes I have Giant anti spyware running on 2 PC's paid for it and it is great! Came with a file shredder! It self updates every day. When I first got it I ran Adaware and SpybotSD, 0 results, ran Giant and found 9 critical infections.
Just hope MS doesn't screw it up!:)
The beta screenshots are identical to Giant which means you will be getting a very decent product for free. As I understood it Giant scans memory and the XP shell, which Adaware and SD didn't. It also identifies known spy's and restricts installation. -- King of the run-on sentence. |
