| Not Bad Especially for a beta. Found a few things spybot and ad-aware dont. And its running fine in the background. Course I have a gig of ram. I dunno if it would slow down systems with less. As for what they charge... remember this wasnt a free product in the first place, so its not like suddenly having to pay for spybot. | |

| Re: Not Bad I have an Athlon 2600+ , 512MB RAM, decently fast but not a 3Ghz screamer like many of you have and with McAfee AS, SpySweeper 3.5 , Zone Alarm Pro, and Norton System Works 2003 running all in real time along with this Microsoft Antispyware ...I really don't see any slowdown. If anything my internet browser reaction speed jumped a notch faster after this MS Antispyware removed three severe threats that the other security software I run failed to find.
I'm sold on this software already. Microsoft finally is making some good moves with SP2 and now this.

| Re: Giant Pro well after reading everyones hate reviews on M$ spyware program, it is same as giant to me, and works just as well. those who will not try it because its M$, evidently your brain doesn't work well enough to know a good program when you see it. Quit listening to everyone elses opionion and use it to come up with your own. USA and their bandwagon tactics.
Why do people HATE on those who conquer? Its that way for everything in this world. Its a sad story that is very true, even more in the work world if your doing better than everyone at your place of work, how many people are talking shit behind your back trying to build up enemies against you to make you quit or get you fired. I say bag on all you haters, and people like the guy above that is still running SP1 talking about Messenger service being linked to spyware i should hack your computer with the messenger exploit to teach you a lesson on why sp2 is not evil and BAD for computers like all these magazines say and people say. its called reformat if your computer is running badly anyway why would you want to make a major upgrade like that to it anyway. WISE UP
blah blah blah shishcoombah i downloaded it and its great, go billy go make another billion this year, but please pretty please work on IE cause i hate firefox it takes up 40 megs of memeory everytime i leave it open for more than 10 minutes. Thank god i have 1gig of ram. M$ spyware remover A+ great business decision -- i work with a OC192 sitting next to me(thats 9.2 gigabits per/sec) anyone want some?and my neighbor next door is the largest fiber facility in central california wanna race?

| If you are a MSbiggot... I really have to say I am fed up with people bigoted against MS. Sure, there are some issues, but it seems that these people are willing to trust the veracity, efficacy, and design of one company while bashing that of an entrenched leader. I look at it all with an open mind. For example, I like IE, but tried Firefox and love it. Now I use it all the time. In contrast, Linux is worthless to me. It just seems that it as fashionable to bash MS as it is to bash the US. Back to the issue at hand, I just tried MS Antispyware and give it a thumbs up so far. I will continue to trust S&D and Adaware, because you can't have too many tools. -- Mcfrisch(Cox HSI : Cleveland) | |

| Identified WinPCap as "enabler" It found WinPCap (which is required to run Ethereal which I personally installed and is not spyware) as potential spyware enabler.
Since I need Ethereal to function, I selected "Ignore Always". I think it should concentrate on the spyware itself since the Windows OS, web browser, ftp application etc. can be considered spyware enablers.

Yes it is tagged as an 'ENABLER' in that the information it gathers by function could be exploited by spyware. It is just informing you of a possible security risk, and further explains that the risk is very low. If you know that it should be there and there are no other issues, then you should be fine. I would be told about it and then ignore it, that be in the dark, fat, dumb and happy;) -- Mcfrisch(Cox HSI : Cleveland)

| Cool tool I like it. I was adding a site to my IE trusted sites and a pop up for this program came up to let me know that blah blah had just been added to trusted and whether I wanted to add it or not. Nice, I rarely use IE but that can be kind of handy considering some of the hijacking programs add themselves. | |

| Nice Program I just installed it and I'm impressed with the real-time security agents that monitor many different parts of Windows internals.
I ran a scan and it found one threat, but it was a false positive: it identified Microsoft Encarta 2001 as spyware!

| Looking good to me it also seems just like GIANT AntiSpyware, and even tho i do not like MS, this product is not bad. found things that i know for a fact were threats, and my system isnt messed up or anything like that, so it did what it was supposed to, remove threats and keep your computer safe. that to me is a fine product. | |

| Re-breanded "Giant" Already using Giant along with Ad-aware & Spybot. Have had no problems with Giant, and it does seem to catch things other 2 programs miss. But why would MS need to buy this company to get decent spyware protection? Wasn't it 3 years ago that Chairman Bill announced "trusted computing" as a MS mission statement. Would think with all the advantages(insider knowledge of OS etc.) and money that a decent anti-spyware program would have been a slam-dunk. | |

| Re: Re-breanded "Giant" They bought it because of the way Giant uses a community to help w/spyware. Due to variants all the time, a group is better equipped (and prepared) for different types of malware. Their OS itself is such a sprawling pile they need outside help containing its madness... Who knows. Giant had already built the database of bad stuff, and a good system to help avoid future baddies. If MS themselves had built up an antispy proggy, no one would believe them. It may have worked, but why re-invent the wheel. my 2 cents anyway. | |

| ms/giant yep, it's still giant. ms is still giant. whatever. Installed in lab environment, where spybot is used, this cleans much more than it or a-squared (which I find strange so far...). At least it's an attempt to help people out with a simple program. Interface is decent, but some parts are kinda backwards, just a layout thing. It also annoyed me w/one little thing... We use Novell, and now win2k asks for pwd. after Novell login. slight annoyance I can't seem to completely cure. It did ask right after install about some Windows default pwd so I blocked it... oh well, now I can't undo it, even w/uninstall... heck, at least it cleared out a ton of junk from some of the school machines. Not worth money in my opinion, they should make this a free utility for the home/education market and charge a modest corp. fee for updating (bandwidth usage...). All in all, if you're too paranoid, MS will still let you download w/out verifying windows authenticity. Go try, it can't hurt. | |

| Wrong direction I would rather Microsoft spend their resources cleaning up all the ActiveX & other known loopholes of their existing products. Catching malware after-the-fact is the wrong direction.
There's many good adware / antivirus applications that already exist, but there's limited alternatives to the OS faults that so easily permits the infestations.

| AntiSpyWare hmmm.. It only found setting (registry) entries for Kazaa and edonkey (Kazaa (lite) is a modified ver and hosts file eliminates the ad issues)
Well we'll see how it goes as it's in use... too bad it didn't find Windows as spyware, tho it did say MSN Messenger was a threat.. (I'm on win2k)
But overall, so far so good.. I just hope M$ decides this NEEDS to be free as it'll have no chance in the consumer market with ANY price attached. -- Webmaster Steve - - - - - - - - - - - - »ppnhosting.com »sphenterprizes.com »pokemonpalace.net

It flagged a folder in my favorites called "Cool Sites" as malicious, and it marked my packet sniffer as spyware.
I'll stick to Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Spywareblaster, thank you.
