All Talk and no Action.. except for Verizon.

Why do I have a feeling that SBC and BellSouth can talk the talk but can't walk it? They are all talk and no action. "Fiber here, 22mbps there".. yea? I'll believe it when I AM ON IT. Until then, I don't care what they annoce at any "shows" or conventions.

They cannot destroy our society, they cannot destroy our believe in the democratic way. They can destroy buildings, they can kill people and we will be sadden by these tragedies but they will never be allowed to kill the spirit of democracy! God Bless!

Hmmm

Why didn't they call it "Up-Yours" With SBC's track record
I think it would be a much better and more accurate name.

Tell that to PA where Verizon stole billions of taxpayer dollars in exchange for fiber deployment that never happened.

this almost hurts

this may cause me pain, but I have to say SBC's plans make me glad I am served by Verizon.

Re: Hmmm

I was going with the similar approach...

They'll charge you per second used and call it "Per-Verse"

or maybe it will deliver so many popups and spam as part of the monthly costs, they'll call it "Ad-Verse?"

Or keep customers waiting so long they call it "U-Wish?"

I'm reaching, I know....I think you've topped me.....

Cool

Well this all sounds like fun but let me tell you, unless I move I won't see this until my great great great grandson graduates college.

Right...

"In 2005 SBC will deliver"... right. Lets see how far they've gotten at the end of the year.

Verizon vs SBC

If it is costing $1200 per customer for Verizon, it is unlikely to have long term traction beyond trials. The cost should come down or Verizon should offer much more revenue generating services over the fiber to recuperate costs and make money.

However much I like fiber, I think SBC's approach of fiber to the hub and VDSL (or ADSL2+, 3 etc.) for the remainder short distance may be more feasible from business point of view.

Hey guys, try to come up with something more original than "I'll believe it when I see it". Every time news about the next generation broadband shows up, all you "non-believers" are all over the forum. No future broadband service will be instantly available, so you can quit trolling SBC and other companies. Besides, they are trying to get us more speed for about the same price.

Re: Hmmm

... When customers call tech support, it's always "U-Verse's THEM"

... And when it doesn't work, customers will cry "U suck".

Yeah, I'm reaching too. Ugh, SBC, couldn't you have come up with a better name? Blech!

Re: Verizon vs SBC

It's not really that much when you think about it. With triple play customers they can recover that cost in less than 3 years. The original phone network took decades to recover the costs.

It's all marketing schemes to get people to signup with their service to be "eventually upgraded".

Trying tog et us more speed for about the same price? Thats no moto for the Bells. More like "get more speed for your first child"
