| Reliable Service
Cable Rates ARE high, I routinely feel ripped off on the Cable TV side of things, but I feel somewhat justified paying my $170/month bill.
Simply because I get RELIABLE high speed online, no node overcrowding here, phone service $30 a month LESS than Bellsouth WITH Unlimited Long Distance and excellent customer service.
Are there bundling discounts? Of course, my Road Runner went down to $39.99 because I have TV and Phone service, likewise, my phone service went down to $39.99 (plus taxes and fees, grrr...) because I have TV and Cable Modem service.
All that and I only have ONE bill to pay for three different services.
I, for one, am glad for cable deregulation. |

The love of money, they get a cheaper ESPN subscription rate, and get the rate hike... Cable had a good year last year..
sorry... sarcasm cannon is fully armed.
So who gets the congratulations? I guess I should be glad I have Directv. |

I just left DISH. Horrible Horrible service. They couldn't get the service to work right after 4 months, and they had no clue why it was. I'm not a big Charter fan and had hoped Dish would be a cheaper alternative, but 4 months of service outages, voice sync issues, general incompetence, and long waits on the phone sent me back to cable. At least for the next year Charter's giving me a $25 a month credit to "buy back my Dish", so my bill for a year anyway. I really wanted Dish to work, but their subcontracts are not properly training and their are MAJOR communication issues within that company between the folks on the phone and the installers. |

And now with the Dish and DirecTV yearly rate hikes, they'll be up to cable rates in no time too. |

In the 7 years I've had Directv, I have never had a rate increase that I did not voluntarily initiate myself (i.e. my base rate hasn't increased). |

If the cable companies come after you, call us and we'll come armed with shotguns, torches and various stolen munitions.
I'm sure you can handle yourself quite well, but we just want to steal your food while you're fighting.
I'm joking of course. We should move to Canada. |

Cable companies (or at least Comcast justify rate hikes by saying they are needed to provide new and better services.
If you don't use said service, guess what you are still going to pay for it. --

I personally hope the government continues to do nothing about cable TV prices. If people hate paying so much money for cable, they should cancel their service and not pay any more money for it. No one ever died without cable TV. -- Hey Fast Eddie... you're next! |

Just is a shame not all of us have the room for the dish needed.
Can't wait till I move out to the stick in a couple months I am buying me one of those dishes and only using cable for the net access, of course if fios is in the area I wont have cable at all. -- "It's always funny until someone gets hurt......and then it's absolutely friggin' hysterical!" |

But so many people use it to baby sit their kids that that just won't happen , not to mention the HSI portion is a big money maker that is sapped on also. with comcast you save $2 a month by getting broadcast basic cable. -- "It's always funny until someone gets hurt......and then it's absolutely friggin' hysterical!" |

This year and last both raised the prices, it was covered on many sites. »[DIRECTV] March 1st Price Increase - clearly states that last year and this year DirecTV increased its rates. And this site, »ekb.dbstalk.com/17, clearly shows the the same thing. You only fooling yourself if you think that they haven't raised the rates twice in the last two years. |

just pay $15/month to an unlimited newsgroup provider and get all the tv shows and or movies and or music you need from there with your high speed internet.
Looking at that al-a-carte provider they charge like $13 a month JUST for HBO. |
