It happened to me

I was getting speeds of over 90% of their advertised upload an d download speeds when one time the speeds started going down to 1/3 for download and 1/7 for upload. one month later i decided to give them a call but they put me on a waiting line that they will called me after 24 hours. i waited for 72 hours and then they finally called. They said that i was running a ftp server on my pc but i actually wasn't. i was using torrents. they uncapped my connection and said that i cannot upload continuesly for a long period of time because i would slow down others speeds.

now i upload for 1 hour pause for 10 mins upload for another hour and so on.

What can we do?

If FIOS isn't in your town and you have cablevision what can you really do? is there some site or organization, a petition that could get signed to help us out with the capping? Its a shame that the news of capping isn't further spread so that more people found out that the internet is going slow because they spent more hten 5 mins downloading something and isn't even going to get notified. If theres soemthing that can be done to help in any way that you know about please contact me at thepenismyghtier@gmail.com
