Too little too late?

Based upon past performance (and personal experience), I think "Qwest: Ride the Lite" is a more appropriate marketing tag line.

Lacking

To put it simply:
"That is SOOOOOO last century!"

They can easily offer 15-30 mb/s and they cap it at minimal DSL speeds? Talk about greedy...

Anyone know the price for this? If you say anything over $20, Im ganna start laughing unconrollably!

Re: Qwest

In TelcoThink, so they don't decrease the real or perceived value of their other data services of course!

look out Comcast

I just hope by the time i move to Colorado next spring i will see 20MB vs the 1.5 they are going to start off with. I hope they can do it just to have another option then just Comcast

where it makes "sense"

And check out this statement from Qwest's press release:

"Qwest has determined that where it makes sense for the company, such as in certain new developments where green field conditions exist, Qwest will deploy FTTH technology, which enables Qwest to be well prepared to serve customers' current and future broadband needs."

So there you have it. Where it makes "sense" for Qwest (i.e. they can make the most money), they will deploy FTTH. If your home, or neighborhood, or city don't make "sense" for Qwest, tough. You'll be left off the information superhighway, and you will not fully participate in the global economy.

Unfortunately you are far more likely to see 20MB from Comcast. (If history is any kind of indicator.)

Re: oh great....

Does it really matter that your PIPE to the household for Internet service is 1.5 Mbps when the aggregate PIPE of the local community is oversubscribed as hell. I hear some of the Internet connections that aggregate local community traffic can be oversubscribed as much 100/1.

Plain and simple, what most people don't realize is that residential service, whether it be delivered via Ethernet, Coax, Fiber, etc. has no quality of service and no service level agreements. Thus the 1.5 Mbps. Its the other applications like IPTV which will take advantage of the Fiber...for now.

Re: Lacking

I really don't get it either. 3Mbps DSL is $30 a month around here, so 1.5mpbs would actually be a major step backwards. Silly.

WTF!?!?!? Lone Tree????

Come on Qwest, wanna make a TON of new customers? Get it to prime areas, not these lil pockets of uber rich areas for god's sake! Lone Tree......go figure. Medium income is prolly close to a million there.
1.5? Bwahahahahhaha! Ummmm Qwest, is it any wonder why MCI ran so fast away from you? HEAR you customers and your competition! 1.5 is a joke on FTTH.

Quest wants to be bought by Verizon

If they did a vdsl deployment then Verizon might just pass them over when they're done buying MCI. The proof would definately be in the pudding if we could find out how they build out the fiber.

Whats this brown stuff on my shoe

QWERST could'nt light fibre... they don't have a clue they could not find their a**holes with both hands and a friggin funnel.
By the time they deploy something some indie beat them to it.
I knew people that where smart and intelligent then they went to work for QWERST and got hit with the stupid door, and the rude and arrogant door.
I would not hold my breath they are a bunch of low life dirt bags.
