ABOUT TIME!

I can't wait to do this. All I want for phone service is my cell phone.

I am absolutely surprised by this. This came out of nowhere. I didn't think Verizon would do this without federal regulation.

Verizon - Starting to kick butt!

First FIOS now Naked DSL. Looks like Verizon is getting their act together. Hopefully, the other Bells will soon follow.

Verizon seems to be full of surprises lately. First FiOS and now Naked DSL.

Kudos to them!

Since it basically says "no penalty" I have to guess it's the same price whether you have phone service or not.

The price?

Speakeasy runs naked 1.5/256 for approx $64.95 in Cleveland. I wager it'll be around that price range.

I hope not. I'm paying about 70.00 each month (phone + verizon). The whole idea behind naked dsl, was so I could get VoIp. Also price was a very big key to why I wanted naked DSL. 29.95 / 39.95 is good for dsl naked. Just because I do not op for one service, shouldn't mean I have to pay more.

If this is the case, I may have found the first thing I could disagree and not like about Verizon.

YES

edit: But you'd have to port over your home number first, before canceling your home phone service. If don't do it in this order, you'll lose your number.

Re: The price?

I'm sure there will be a premium but I doubt that high. More than likely $10 to $15 making the total around $39 or $44.

Third-party providers

Will this work for third-party DSL providers using Verizon's network (e.g. Covad)?

Couldn't find the price on the Verizon website. They only have the "Package" price listed...

Hmmmmmmmm.........

I have always wondered if some enterprising telco offered this and decent speeds and a fair price, and spelled out their TOS so everyone could understand, installs in a timely manner, they would/could kill the competition....wait got to put that crack pipe away....

old Verizon customers.

How does this work for Verizon customers that had dropped phone service all together like a year ago?
