hah!

somebody needs to get ahold of adelphia....so far I lose service every night at 9:30. Customer service is great, but they shouldn't be trying to expand as a company if they can't satisfy the needs of every customer

cash

it would make sense for them to be validating the offer in cash. don't sit argue by saying "we dont think you have that" make them prove it as i am sure if they are serious then the money will show up. that is stupid to sit there and assume that the offer is bogus. kinda makes you wonder if they are even serious about selling out in the first place unless they just want Comcast to acquire them anyway.

Re: cash

What would be a major embarrassment is if Adelphia accepts the offer and CV doesn't have the cash.

You've Gotta Believe

An all cash deal sounds sweeter to the creditors.
If it happens Cablevision is in the lead by a nose.

Re: cash

With the many poor investments CV has made (Voom, The Wiz, etc.) I have a hard time believing they even have $17.1 billion in cash. Figure they have to have much more than that if they actually spend the $17 billion for Adelphia. This being said...

I have been raped the last few years with pricing from CV (Internet + mid-level Cable TV = $130/month), so I *can* imagine they have that kind of money.

Do any of you all actually read up on this stuff?

:)

Adlephia, the folks working there, that is, don't necessarily want to sell. Their jobs are at stake. Many moved to Denver within the last 2 years to try to bring her out of bankrupcy. It is the LAWERS and CREDITORS who want to sell. Most employees below director level won't even profit a penny!

That'd be a big suitcase.

If I saw a businessman walking into adelphia offices with a humungous suitcase, I'd know it was cablevision. Tackle his ass and take the money.

Cablevision Would Be Best

I think Cablevision would be the best choice for Adelphia customers. Based on price and what you get. Assuming they offered the same things for the same prices everywhere.

Most employees in most companies don't want their company to be sold. It always means that many people will be fired. Of course the head people don't care about their employees.

Got Cash?

Now at least Cablevision will have a real reason to raise rates again.

Not Even Close

According to Cablevision's Dec 31, 2004 balance Sheet, they don't even have enough assets to cover all their liabilities. And their 2.3 billion in Current assets don't even come close to 17.1 billion in cash. This is the worst bluff I've ever seen.

PERIOD ENDING 31-Dec-04
Assets
Current Assets
Cash And Cash Equivalents 1,011,260
Short Term Investments 524,681
Net Receivables 645,739
Inventory 107,860
Other Current Assets 85,247

Total Current Assets 2,374,787

Cablevision is just doing this to Piss TW

CV is just doing this to piss TW and Comcast off because they are taking away the NY Mets from their MSG and FSNY in 2006. This is also a way for CV to say they have money in a lawsuit against the MTA in NYC.

CV is desperate. Desperate people do desperate things.

They aren't on their own, they have cash partners. The whole idea is that cablevision knows how to run a successful cable company, while someone else foots the bill and earns some profit from cablevision's involvement. A project like adelphia isn't like voom or their cell phone business, standard cable systems is what cablevision has been doing all these years and has made tons of money on, they know what they are doing.

said by »www.goupstate.com/apps/pbcs.dll/···/news01:
Cablevision has been holding talks with Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Providence Equity Partners about forming a group that, if successful, would merge the two cable companies to create a national operator, with 8.4 million subscribers.
