Chat help

I just went to their non-member online chat help system at AOL.com. Here's a copy and paste of this. And no, my name isn't Mary.

You say, Is the BYOA plan at $10 a month permanent or does it go up after a certain number of months?

Micko says, Thank you for inquiring about the issue, Mary.

Micko says, To speak to an AOL Customer Care Consultant about your bill, password problems, technical issues, a software order, or other items concerning your AOL account or to sign up for a new or additional account, please call 1-800-4Online (1-800-466-5463).

Micko says, Please contact the number that I have provided you for further assistance.

aol sucks

i had a hard time canceling my account but i still have my aol screen name and buddy list. I only had aol for a year and that was four years ago. aol does screw with everyone every chance they get. they are the worst company around if you ask me. no offense to the ones that use it but road runner is far better than aol will ever be.

All this negativity for a price drop?

I for one don't really understand how you guys can be so negative about a price drop. I do agree with the other poster about all the things you get for $10 bucks on the BYOA plan. It's a steal. I don't know any other company that offers all that for $10.

And as for RR is concerned, they are not a content based provider. They are an ISP and not much else. They of course are faster since they are a "broadband" provider and they are owned by AOL by the way.

Also, having AOL 4 years ago and canceling it doesn't really say much about the company today. They may have "sucked" back then but today I seem them recovering and getting back to the basics. They do so many updates to their content system. They monitor what people like and what people want. No matter how much you hate them, they are a great content provider for $10/month. For many, the way the content is organized on AOL comes naturally to them. Anyways, that's just my 2 cents.

God forbid Comcast drops their prices. There might be a bashing WAR on here.

The best part is...

All that most these companies do in these smaller towns (could be the same for larger cities) is resell the same access they all get from a backbone provider such as UUNet. I know Verizon would charge $23 for dial-up that Juno charged $10 for, and you used the exact same dial-up number. They just prefix usernames so they know who's database to authenticate through, such as "VZ/" or "@juno.net"
