Seems pointless.
For example, »www.bt-search.com/ provides this functionality, indexing 20+ major torrent sites.

1 edit | Bram is just cruising for a lawsuit.
Bram Cohen is enemy number # 1 of RIAA AND MPAA. He must be a masochist. Why would he want to subject himself to possible more scrutiny from record and movie companies. Building a search engine that points out where to get illegal stuff or atleast 95% illegal stuff is not the way to go to get out of the crosshairs. |

So up to date that it still has BTefnet and TV torrents as online and Suprnova.com (scam site) on there.
Not saying that others aren't available but I'll not waste my time on this one. |

your right whats the point in having a search engine were someone can make request to exclude search results. I long for a true search engine. Google is one of the best search engines out there but finding relevant information is a challenge, instead of listing stuff by popularity and who used the most meta tags , why cant searches be listed based on relevances of content. Just because you paid someone 1000 so that your on top of the list every time someone search for "narf" doesnt mean its your brand of "narf" im looking for. Search engines should be divided into 2 results sponsored and non sponsored. That way you can get more accurate results. |

Too bad we can't set up a site on good old Luna. Outside the laws of the US, the UN and Earth in general. Might just be the start of a "real" Lunar revolution. |

| What is Bram Thinking?
I know he's got some form of mild autism, but this sounds very financially motivated.
Even he acknowledges that BT is currently used overwhelmingly for copyright-infringing distribution.
The trackerless module combined with a dedicated torrent search engine practically invites continued illegal uses.
The original idea, I thought, was that any ordinary search engine could find published torrents, since they were initiated by URLs served via http.
It makes lots of sense for ContentProviderCo.com to host torrent trackers for its material.
It makes much less sense (legally) for BTSearch.com to scour millions of individually published trackers advertising all kinds of material.
There's nothing wrong or illegal with it per se, and I'm all for the freedom of publishing paradigm, but it just smells funny and doesn't help make Bram's initial case that he intended BT for legal purposes.

next thing you know they will sue Easynews and other news providers for having a search engine. Why haven't any news providers been shut down for piracy? They certainly have it on their systems. |

When you do a google search and click through to a site, do you know whether a site has the rights to the intellectual property it displays? Suppose 95% of the sites didn't. Do the 5% count for anything? |
