| Podcasting is not a 'waste of time'. It's a very young technology that is still finding it's way. The TWIT casts are being downloaded in mass, and are ranked #1 on many podcast ranking sites and there are usually an abundance of seeds on BT to download from without much problem.
I commend Leo, Kevin, Patrick, Robert, Yoshi, etc. for putting this together and to begin a process of creating a show that they have complete control over. It was absolutely painful to watch what happened to the Screen Savers and what the "management" did to that show. G4 is an absolute waste of space.

Now these audio shows from Leo & friends, I *dig* these.
Tech related roundtable discussion in casual style with opinions & humor. Man I wish a local radio station broadcasted something like this. Yes these Twit casts are still dealing with sound quality issues with the multiple voice over internet clients, but the content is entertaing and almost always informative.
I wonder if a video version might be feasible in the future, distributed by bit torrent or something.
They might be on to something here. This could be the start of a type of Internet TV. (Specialized content, No network meddling whims, commercial free ). | |

I listen to the weekend KFI show and I have to say the first 15 minute commentary is the best part, the rest of the show is boring tech calls about issues I could fix for these people myself, it's a show mainly for n00bs and thats ok, because there is a lot of them out there, but when you start building pc's and tech support for friends and family there isn't much there for the hardcore. TWiTs is great for people like me that just want to hear a bunch of tech geeks talking about the latest tech of the week. I can do with out the stupid spyware/virus calls and driver issues these callers call in for. | |

At least there are no illusions to quality tv anymore. The only ones worth watching anymore would be the last TechTV holdouts Adam Sesler and Morgan Webb. Waldwick, NJ | Concentrate on the Content The podcasts are ok - sort of rambling at times and way to much talk each week about recording the post cast. It's sort of annoying when you listen to a bunch of various podcasts and each one, each week, describes the trials and tribulations of the recording process.
Talk about content... we all know recording stinks and is a pain, especially with multiple people. Unless your podcast is about podcasting, don't talk about your own podcasting issues, talk about the content your podcast focusses on.

| | Actually Pretty Entertaining I've listened to all of the podcasts for the new TWIT series, and I have to say they're somewhat informative and pretty entertaining. I think we need to give them a little time to "find their legs" and really explore what can be done in the podcast format. It's totally different than television, but I'm guessing at some point in the future TWIT may go the route of Kevin Rose's SYSTM and go with a video program.
For now this is an entertaining listen with some interesting tech savvy people sharing opinions. It's not rocket science, but it's better than anything I can find on my radio here in Chicago. | |

| Kevin Rose...snoore... While I appreciated his content, Kevin Rose was a poor TV host. Seriously the guy has no personality and it always seemed that he was uncomfortable almost painfull hosting the show. Maybe this new format will be kinder to him.
IMHO - Attack of the Show is actually pretty good and Sarah although she isn't as funny as Sessler/Web/Pierera (sp?) is not a bad host and easy on the eyes. I have FUN watching this show now.

With this said, as a teacher, I want my students to make up there own minds about any topic any subject and anything. I don't take my own views and ram them down there young eager mouths like FOX and Comcast no one is blind to the fact that those bums are doing.
If you don't like them turn them off.

I can't get enough of this WEEK in TECH. I enjoy it more than I ever enjoyed The Screensavers; while the "live" element of the television show was great, especially with people calling in, there is just something better about this podcast. I don't know if it's the fact that there is no advertising, that the participants are free to say whatever they want, or simply the "underground" nature of it, but it just rocks.
this WEEK in TECH, and The Daily Source Code, are my favorite podcasts.
As far as content, I don't mind the fact that many podcasters talk about the process of podcasting, and its difficulties. Especially on this WEEK in TECH, podcasting is something of a new technology - they can tell us first-hand about how this medium is progressing, and provide insight into it's benefits and difficulties.
