Couldn't p2p networks...

Add in their EULA something along the lines of...

"By installing this software, you agree to use it for legal non-infringing purposes and due to that, neither the software company or it's networks are liable for any other use there of. "

Or something... I mean, it states right there NOT to use it for a copying copyighted files. Course I have no idea of how to write a LEGAL EULA... so it's just an idea.

Networking Services allow you to swap files too

They might as well sue Novell, Microsoft, Cisco whoever came up with IPX/SPX/NetBIOS and TCP/IP. Sue anyone short of two soup cans with a string in between them for that matter.

Someone should sue gun manufacturers as well for killing people which is way better than the automobile analogy.

not much will change

It's illegal to distribute copyright files. They went to court to re-re-re verify. Making copies for personal use is ok, as long as you don't distribute. The internet is a means for files to be distribute files, period. They are going after applications that allow you to distribute.

The overall outcome will be the same. It's still illegal to share copyrighted works, duh, people will still distribute because the internet connects everyone on a world wide network. It's a losing battle to attack application after application. Waste of money. These days it's easier to make and record your own music.

Some CD rippers allow you to rip music as original works. The software is already out there, if your smart you will archive all the software that lets you rip music, keep those old computers around. Low-tech hacks will never be defeated by the RIAA, (just hold down the shift key). As the saying goes, if it can be seen or heard it can be recorded and distributed.

Storage technology is changing, the next new media format will bring another onslaught of lawsuits. Round and round we go.

Give me a break

/start sarcasm

Look out Adobe!

I use your software to make fake ID's - very illegal and now they are going to hold your software liable for it.

Nifty!

the greedy AA's and restrictions

To me today's verdict will just make those users such as myself who are totally against telling consumers how often and where we can play purchased content, want to share even more. If I purchase a song from say Napster, and later on I need to reload my system for whatever reason, guess what I can't back up my purchased files! Oh sure I have the files, but they'll never play on the new system. Not to mention you can't play them on other OS's such as Unix. If the RIAA and MPAA would offer a service without DRM many consumers would have no problem purchasing from them. But when they only give us DRM protected crap that severely restricts what the end consumer can do with their just purchased content, and when MPAA is suing folks like DVD decripter just because of the ability to make copies of DVD's regardless of reasoning for those copies being made, even if they're for backup use, and nothing more, that is just crazy in my books, and as I see it, the consumer will never ever have a say in rulings like this ever, and the ability to copy something should not be illegal! At least not when there's no financial gain from it. If the big greedy corporations want to keep their customers, they need to stop being so restrictive, and do something the consumer will like. The solution to all this is so easy, why do they have to sue any product even remotely capable of copying anything! I guess that's it then, today's ruling says if you produce p2p software, and it can send/receive files, you can now be sued! this is just sick! When will the consumer have a say in this nonsense again!

Good Luck

Yeah, The Supreme court ruled that they could sue these entities, But fortunately for the services, most of them are in countries where nobody gives a damn, and any legal fight against them is futile.

Being called a Pirate

Does not bother me one bit. It's like water running off a ducks back.Who care about the verdict.I will ignore that silly bullsh*t,it no longer applies to me.

The law just went beyond the realm of silly to asinine. Not that it troubled me to begin nor anytime soon,I say screw the**AA's.Since I'm already considered a Pirate of the worst barbaric activity.

I will download 24/7 ANYTHING my heart desires. If its on the web to be taken,IT WILL be taken. That is the cold hard fact of reality.Don't like it? Tough deal with it.

Multi million $$$$ making conglomerates. So what I haven't the slightest iota to purchase it in the first place.I feel no smyphathy towards them.So what if they take a screwing. It's only a taste of their own medicine.

BTW:I don't lose a seconds worth of sleep nor bat an eyelash, over anyone's moralistic view. The more I download the better I sleep.

P.S. I'm a liar

I have no morals since I'm a thief.--Blackie Lawless of W.A.S.P.

No big deal

I blame the Internet if you had no Internet you could not download movies or music.

So pretty much nothing have changes from two months ago. The Supreme court pretty much said we're not ruling for anyone. Just keep doing what you have been doing.
