Adelphia and Cox need this since they are smaller than Comcast and don't hold the same amount of market share as Comcast. Comcast can afford to sit back a while. -- |Networking Help|My Blog| |

Wow 15mbps/2mbps? I can't even imagine those kind of speeds especially the 2MBPs upstream. I'm in Hemet CA zip 92543, and I currently believe I have the best internet speed on the west coast for cable/dsl, with downstream of around 7MBPS and upstream of around 900KBPs. The connectivity both ways is amazingly solid. so even if my downstream stays at about 7mbits and my upstream went to 2, boy that'd be neat to see, not holding my breath though despite the fact FIOS is just a couple cities away from me. |

Then maybe down speeds would actually reach 3 like they're supposed to in the first place? |

Oh... I can just see / hear it now:
Former Adelphia customer calling Comcast after receiving leter describing service;
Comcast rep = Cc Customer = PC (Pissed Customer)
CC: Hello and thank you for calling us today; how may I help you?
PC: Hi there, I just got this leter from you saying my connection speed was changing since you purchased Adelphia from my old speeds of 16Mbps down and 2 Mbps up to 4Mbps down and 384Kbs up. What's with this?
CC: Yes; that's right.. it's our network and we can do as we want; so there. |

| reply to kd6cae Anyone think we have a chance of seeing these speeds in any other parts of the states?
Some of the speeds (and prices) available in other parts of the states are starting to look kinda pathetic compared to the local market. In other words: they are getting or going to get 15mbs while we are getting barely 5mbs or slower. |

I dono but here in TN @home was bought out by comcast It was good for about 6 month and here recently for about 2 moths it has done nothing but time out well at first every hour now its every 5 to 15 min and on thoes 5 min intervals it can time out up to 3 times in a row within 5 min lol. Hell and my modem finally disconected today. All I can say is they make us pay fdor basic cable to have internet and I think were gona go to satelite internet. I mean I can deal with the bad weather conection problems aslong as I can play when its ok out. Oh and I dont give a shit about 7m down who the fuck is useing 3m down all the time I whant like 1m down 3m up and I'm set lol. |

Everyone is bitching about speeds, but here in Newton, NJ I have 3000 down, 512 up and i'm paying $64.99 + taxes for it, not including the local 'phone tax'. Service electric cable is 3.5down/56k up (1 way cable) and costs 80 bucks a month. Right now i miss Comcast/Verizon/Cavalier. With comcast i had 6/768 for 57.95/mo.
The sad part is the only broadband companies out here are Sprint(DSL), NetAccess (DSL), and Service Electric, none of which offer a decent package for less than $50. |
