"...The users (spammed) also participated in phone DDOS campaigns themselves, with thousands of angry calls on one day. An online magazine encouraged its readers to call on April 17, 2003 and pretend to sign up for the courses or request extensive information [2].
A culmination of the backlash were probably the actions of Andrey Korotkov, then Russian Deputy Minister of Communications, whose angry message addressed to ALC was recorded and sent every 10 seconds to ALC (Vardan Kushnir's business) phone numbers using the infrastructure of Russia's largest ISP...."

| | | | Not only is his death not hilarious, but it seems that most people here fell into a trap of "blaming the messenger". When you receive junk mail in your mailbox, do you blame or want to kill your mailman for delivering it to you?
Well guess what, Vardan Kushnir was just that. He delivered someone else's mail. By no means will I advocate his methods of accomplishing this. However, in the end, I'd much sooner want to punish the companies who use spammers than spammers themselves. Without those companies, there would be no spammers. It's that simple.

He might have been a vile human being but there's no way that someone guilty of spamming deserves the death penalty (even if it's a lynching). This won't make spam go away (or even slow down) because 100 other people will be there to take his place, and in the meantime he leaves behind grieving family who had nothing to do with his spam endeavors.
