I love my XM radio

Yeah sure I pay 12.95 a month but hell I spend that at the bar in about 20 minutes anyway. I was skeptical when I heard of paying for the radio but I can honestly say that now I cant listen to regular radio, it feels like its FILLED with commercials.

The newer generations of XM radios will have hardrives for MP3's and to record XM radio. That means that you can prob figure a way to send that audio right to your computer. Oh and some of the stations have the songs unedited.

For the record. I havent bought but 2 Cd's in the past 4 years since I got my PC with the CD burner. Thank you Winmx and Limeire

Re: I love my XM radio

Once I got Sirius I basically have not listened to radio at all. I listen to Sirius streaming and listen in my truck 12 hours a day.

I was actually thinking of pulling the antenna for radio off my truck and filling the hole and respraying the truck to look smoother

Yahoo Music

Yahoo Music Unlimited is $5 a month including transfer to MP3 players with over a million popular songs. You can buy songs for $0.79 each if you want to put them on CD's. It's a much better deal than iTunes, especially if you're a cube dweller with a pair of headphones.

Re: Yahoo Music

Scuse me? I want less popular artists like Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork, Shadows Fall, Rhapsody, Nuclear Assault, Dimmu Borgir, Gamma Ray, Exodus, Tiamat, Testament, Symphony X, Carcass, Nile, Dragonforce, Stratovarius, Firewind, Poisonblack, Armored Saint, Witchery and many, many more artists available, not just the pop(ular) crap seen and heard in most of America, not just the bullshit teen kiddies are listening to today (which usually lack talent).

...

It's absurd listening to the music industry complain about apple and the ipod. Sure the ipod is a great machine, but who gave it the special power it has? The music industry.
The music industry wanted to use the apple brand to turn the personal computer into a locked down music player. Now they are upset that apple has used their music as a sideline to sell and lock people into ipods. If they hadn't insisted on the drm shit in the first place the ipod wouldn't have the privileged position it has.

They were bitten in the ass by their own monster.

Pricing Showdown?

OK... I will never understand how record lables think...

Machines to burn the CD's $$$$$ (including maintaince)
CD's and CD Jewel Cases $(cheap)
Artwork/CD design $$$
Shipping costs $$$$^ (and will continue to increase)
Receiving and Placement $$

Profit on CD sales cannot be much... and I know the artists dont see much from that either.

VERSUS

1 song for 99 cents (profit split between Record Label and Online site) Hmmmm... almost no overhead... and we know the Record lable gets most of that.

Companies that benifit from downloading music (legit or not)

CD/DVD Burner CO's
Computer Co's
HD Manufactors
Blank Media Co's
Label Making Co's
MP3/CD Player Co's
HSI Co's
Recently Cellular Co's as well

Conclusion:
The record labels and **AA's better learn to make money from other angles. Trying to charge more than 99 cents a song is absolutely nuts. Imagine the world market and 1 billion people go buy 1 song for 99 cents... how much money is enough. If the record lables cannot adapt to change... then they will destroy themselves due to their stupidity.

What everyone here should REALLY think about. Is how a DVD can be sold for roughly the SAME price as a music CD. Think about it. Would you get a audio CD, or a DVD with music videos and stuff for the same price?

Record label that put copy protection on their cds

If a record label puts protection on their cds so i cant rip them to my Ipod, i refuse to buy the cd and instead find another source to download it from (for free!).

The record labels copy protection for me isnt stopping piracy, its encouraging it. People will always find away around. Mean while leaving their good customer frustrated!
