| Housing is needed
I called the local chapter of the red Cross and informed them that I have a 6 br house available for anyone displaced by this tragedy.
They said they're not aware of any efforts at this time to find long term shelter for those displaced, perhaps if more people call with this same type of donation, maybe they'll get off their asses and start making this available to those who desperately need this kind of help.
There is a web site that needs help too, sort of an offspring of »www.fark.com/ but they need Database admin help and php/web scripting assistance.
They're going to be assembling a database of housing that is being made available by regular joes and janes like us, in order to bring some relief to thos who've been displaced.
If you can help Katrina's Shelter, please help. -- Join the NAVY, see the world....It's mostly water! |

The Nat'l Response was there before the hurricane hit. Maybe you should drive to the area to see for yourself. Oh wait you can't - maybe the same logistical problem that the gov't is having.
Why does everything have to be political????
Bush flying over the area would only have a symbolic affect. Do you think he would do more than he is already doing now. He has authorized everything asked of him for this tragedy.
How can you sit in the comforts of your San Diego Home complaining about what the people on the ground are doing?
Why don't you yell at the UN for not convening and the liberals in western Europe for not sending any aid over? Where are they when natural disasters hit us?
Get a Life!!! |

Walmart is also taking contributions, at all of their stores.
If any of you need to contact anyone in the area effected by Katrina you may be able to get a message through to some one using this organization. »www.satern.org/

I did so last night, giving $100 to the American Red Cross 2005 Hurricane Relief Fund.
I also asked my HR representative here at work whether my employer will match that contribution. |

FEMA is a good one to call/donate to as they provide trailers etc for displaced families. |
