Or more importantly, what if the artist in question isn't signed by any of the members of RIAA? That would make this ideology fairly null and void, wouldn't it?

According to the article, audible magic could block all transmission that go outside the walled garden, as well as transmissions inside the walled garden of works that they do not have royalty agreements for. |

My understanding is that they have deals with just about all the uk indie players. It isn't like it is just sony. Sony was a big deal because it is the first major player to be willing to participate. |

I haven't read the details yet but say Com(mie)cast or BellSouth let you pay $10/mo extra for the "Music Tier" that lets you swap your brains out with others on the music tier as well. Then for internet, they allow outbound :8080 and keep the p2p stuff from being transmitted. I think that has potential.
