Ditto.. I mean... really.

Don't get me wrong... I would take it... just not sure what I would do with it.

I can find million of ways to use that much bandwidth. Like running an FTP for your friends so you can share your Anime. Or an IRC server...

Why Complain?

The situation of ISPs fighting over how much more bandwidth they can offer to customers is a beautiful thing.

Good..

Competition is always good for the consumer as it lead to better service at lower prices. I just can't wait till FiOS comes here:D

3 HD channels will consume a little more than that. It's pretty conceivable, even today that a household would want to watch 3 seperate HD channels.

Touch gloves and fight!

Cablevision turns to Verizon and whispers in a thick accent: "I must break you."

Maybe something IS Afoul

But maybe this will start making other companies take a hard look at what they are currently offering and think, maybe, the consumer does in fact want this type of speed and offer this at a reasonable price, I for one would like more than 3-5mbps, in fact, everyone's complaint is the upload. Sure, great download speeds, but like everyone else has said, with caps, 50mbps will be capped in no time. Also, we want more upload, YOU HERE US NOW? Uploading game files to a gaming server can sometimes be a daunting process.

Actually you make a very good point... as the speeds go higher... next they will have to compete on price. Which should also be a win-win for us.

Yep, real useful

Sure, they can offer any download rate you feel like, as long as you accept their terms to get that level of service to work. (for example)

-Packet shaping
-Port blocks
-Data Caps
-Ridiculous upload rates (less than 256k)

Right now anyone could promote any data rate they feel like as long as the EULA says they "have the right to manage their network as they see fit"

Yep....50 Mbps...only for text files, uncompressed, from a super host that has multi-peering.

Nah... They probably offer only 384 Kb upload.

 50mbps or 20mbps ... yeah right

Yeah CV sucks, no one should ever believe their speed claims anymore. If you upload or download "too much" they will slow you down to DSL speeds and still make you pay the same price for the full service. I am still stuck with them at the moment and will immediately switch to fiber as soon as it is available. 50mbps or 20mbs service with a 150kbps upload cap if you use it "too much" isn't 50mbs or 20mbps service.

Re: That a lot of bandwidth

If I get 4 HD tv's to replace the 4 that are being watched at this moment, what type of serivce will keep up with me ? Does anyone think with the countdown to full digital that people will replace or upgrade ALL of the tv's in the home ? What about my tv in the garage, come to think of it ! Forgot about that one ! Well, I guess I would have to have SD delivered to about 2 or 3 to keep a signal flowing....;)

Re: That a lot of bandwidth

This is where people get lost. My Comcast connection is not affected by the TV service(or my Digital Phone).
I lean towards that CV is the same way... TV is separate from internet. HDTV has nothing to do with what your computer gets, unless you have a HD tuner connected to it but it will still be separate.

Sure, I don't have 20-50mbps internet, but three HDTV feeds are completely doable.
There is a s#!+load of bandwidth already coming into my(our) houses over that little coax.

At 384 kb up you could net get 50 Mbps down. Remember you still have need to confirmation on the packets you receive.

Yeah great pic, but who represents who? Is Rocky going to be Cablevision, or Verizon?
