50Mbps... Huh?

and symmetrical 50Mbps service at an as yet unmentioned price-point.
Umm....how? Even in full blown DOCSIS2.0 you'd have a hard time getting past 10Mbps upstream.

It's not pure coax:

quote:
In the current deployed architecture, NBAN provides up to 100 Mbps of dedicated symmetric Ethernet on each of the four coaxial cable trunks in an HFC node
quote:
uses Narad's coax-based outdoor Ethernet switches, which leverage the spectrum above 860 MHz to create new, QoS-managed bandwidth. The use of a switching fabric assures data security and network monitoring needed for enterprise telecom services. The Narad architecture evolution will allow 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps symmetric Ethernet to be carried, in the last mile, over any combination of fiber, coax, and wireless transmission media.

Over the weekend i couldn't get anything above 5.5-6mb.
Usually I'm pulling 10+.

Maybe (hopefully) it's do to with the upgrade.

Yeah...

Use your bandwith too long and you'll still get throttled to DSL speeds, I'll bet.

Still not worth it.

That is $65 a month for 30/2. About $55 a month if you also have more than basic cable and VoIP. I'm getting 30/5 fios for $55.

Also OOL caps if you upload an unspecified amount, and could hardly even keep up with the bandwidth needs of 10/1 connections. I don't see them actually giving 30/2 and allowing you to use it.

What a joke

What good is it since if you try to use that kind of bandwidth they will cap you. They still do not allow servers, nor provide a static IP address and not to mention all those lovely port blocks.

If you are in a dense area lets see what happens when you and your neighbors try to use all that bandwidth. But I guess some people will buy into this marketing hype.

VZ FIOS, DSL and their 3rd party DSL providers are still a better deal.

Ring Ring,

Uh, cablevision, you can't DO 50 megabit with current cablemodems... duh.. even under docsis 2.0 spec is 38megabits, so fuhgedaboudit. Shudder to think about what you'll acutally get in reality for more money...

nor 99% of all other consumer ISPs or about 50% business grade tiers.
who the hell cares about static ip. you must be living in year 1985 if you think dynamic ip is a hindrance.

Re: Yeah...

Exactly. This POS company wil still pull a bait and switch on their loyal customers once you actually put your connection to use. Verizon, get to my neighborhood, CV has lost my respect.

SBC residential doesn't seem to care about servers. Nor maxing out your connection 24/7. I doubt their customer base is 1%, not to mention the many other dsl ISPs with the same ethics.

"care" and "allow" are 2 VERY DIFFERENT terms.
go read SBC's TOS.
Dirtyping See Profile and I are talking about allow.
so thank you for pointless post
