I guess SBC saw the light, at least a glimmer of the light. Fiber to the Home is for new residential areas, fiber to the Node is for older establishments.
Hmmm...I guess it is better to install the fiber to the home while the lawn is well...not yet a lawn than it is to dig it up and then replant it.
But I will say this, if they do plan on using Fiber to the Node, the node better be damn close to where the final connection is going to be. I want my 20 Mbps Internet connection!

Even if it doesn't get used for a few years - its much cheaper to perform it during the contruction/planning phase than it is after the fact. Can be done cheaply, quickly (no digging up concrete/pavement/grass). |

There is no question that Verizon is probably doing a better "PR" job than SBC but just maybe SBC is not doing a PR rant on purpose? |

oh my god, what about having to be sent from the stations hub... Via sat. that's earth-sat... then sent from sat-earth to direct-tv hub... then combined and sent earth-sat.. then sat-earth to you... i would say that's MORE! |

Content is the same so picture quality and price are the real issues here. I expect a sub standard product from an under achiever company. |

Try adding YMMV. My experience is different from yours. And no, I don't work for SBC.
Care to be specific in how they've treated their customers? As a full-time telecommuter for the last 13 years, I've used a lot of SBC (Illinois Bell, Ameritech, SBC, ...) communication services, and in general have few complaints. If only their support centers would let knowledgeable customers talk to someone that knows the difference between a DNS server and a crockpot, I'd be really happy. But then again, I've found few companies that can provide me with good technical support without having to wade through a lot of cow manure.
