1 edit | Scrapping Cingular name good idea
Nationally, the AT&T name has a much higher recognition level than Cingular. It probably will result in more sales. AT&T rises again. How long before the next breakup attempts?;) -- -- Join Red Room Forum My Web Page |

@comcast.n | So this means
So does this mean that the BellSouth states will sell the service as Cingular and other states will sell it as AT&T Wireless?

Ah, AT&T Wireless. Use of that brand will bring back some fond memories of great service and support (NOT).
I suspect the public's memory is not all that short. |

1 edit | Bad idea
One of the reasons I went with Cingular many years ago was because of all of the bad experiences I have had with AT&T in various businesses. AT&T brings a bad taste to my mouth.
"Brand" people in businesses are the biggest and most disruptive force to productive work. "Ok everybody! Change all your documentation so that it conforms with (fill in blank) which is our new brand name." -- nohup rm -fr /& |

I'm guessing 2015...
Not only telecom break-ups, but big oil as well. After all, we don't want Exxon/Mobil/ConocoPhillips/Shell/Chevron/Texaco/BP Inc. stifling competition now do we -- huh? |

i still remember getting double billed which cause an overdraft protection fee, and then that cause my account to go negative, so I had $35 dollars in extra fees to pay, which ATT/Cingular decided wasn't their fault and wouldn't reimburse me, which was surprising since my contract ended 10 days later, of course I didn't renew it, but I probably would have, if they had fixed their mistake...
Yes, I'm bashing ATT/Cingular... and if I can keep a few people from not doing business with them, then it will make me feel better knowing that ATT/Cingular screwed themselves a little bit by having poor customer service
So, doesn't ATT Wireless have more recognition for poor customer service, than cingular? |

That is funny because right when cingular bought att, a local att store just opened up and installed a nice huge att molded light up sign. They covered it with a cingular tarp and finally put up a new sign that was Cingular. Now they will have to switch their sign again. |

| Finally!
Many people have wanted this to happen, and well it finally has! AT&T is still the one of the top 5 most valuable names in the WORLD, the proper marketing can definately make this a success - many people miss the customer service ATTWS provided, 24H people to talk to, people who knew what they were doing, and fairly considerate policies.
The fact Bell South doesn't openly stand against this name change is an indicator if the "New AT&T" were to try and buy them they wouldn't say no...

Well, I dumped Cingular for At&T because of Cingular's horrible customer support.
Then Cingular bought AT&T and I was back in Cingular again. Cingular constantly badgers me to "switch" to a Cingular plan from the AT&T plan but my AT&T plan is to good, I would be downgrading.
Now it looks like I am back to AT&T. I wonder if AT&T will badger me to change plans. I won't however, I am waiting for my contract to expire and moving to another provider. |

There is this testing/marketing website for cingular wireless called cingulartrendforce.com I just checked atttrendforce.com is still not registered and up for grabs. Someone could register it now and maybe make some good money selling it to them. |
