Just another event...

First mistake... running her vehicle up on her lawn near the workers. Second mistake... giving a statement to ABC news, admitting to it and stating that she was at least 3 feet from them.

Clearly she's unbalanced. Clearly the charges will be reduced to something minor. I'm guessing a charge that will not include jail, community service and a long probation period.

she should sue to stop them from digging

She should have taken the court to get them to stop digging, if that my house i would take them to court and keep the appeals going for years

Hopefully it does include some (lots of) time in a mental ward. Man what a nutter

Lucky for workers not Oklahoma or Texas

It was lucky this was in Florida instead of Oklahoma or Texas. There they shoot trespassers instead of scaring them with a car.

OK but...

...she stopped and did not hit anyone. They did not have to run for their lives so I see no point in assault with a deadly weapon charge. Maybe threat with a deadly weapon charge but I'm sure there is no such thing.

But on the other hand I hate people who think their yards are sacred grounds. I think she should be shot and buried in the same trench with the fiber.

my 2 cents

I know people work hard on their yards and they want to keep them neat, but if they have the right away, then people shouldnt complain, I know you might get mad having them in your yard, but I think Verizon and other utility workers should post a notice on the residents house telling them they will be working in their yard on the right away and that they have permission to do this under xx law.

Re: OK but...

The charges will probably be dropped to Threat with a deadly weapon(still serious), some psych treatment, and a long period of probation. Like someone said above, if this were in Texas those FiOs guys would've been shot... unless you're lucky enough to live in the Northern Suburbs of D/FW (Verizon Areas), then you would be happy that they were digging in the area... at least I would be!

Actually Florida recently passed the "shoot first ask questions later" law. She didn't know her laws too well.

OMG! That's awful! ...

Karl, Your getting all tabloid on us with this piece!

So, is she pretty? Were the workmen brawny & dumb-like-stumps looking? Can we have a PMS speculation? Did the shirtless workers step on the azaleas?

Inquiring minds want to reinforce stereotypes!

Re: OK but...

There's no way should she be buried in the trench with the fiber. People like that probably have alien blood running through their veins that would eat through and destroy the fiber.

A lot of people get this confused. An sssault is the act of threatening.

Assault = raising your hand to hit someone.
Battery = hitting the person.

Assault with a deadly weapon = driving your car at someone
Attempted murder with a weapon = hitting person with your car
Murder = hitting and killing person with your car.

(I'm a law school graduate, though not an attorney.)

Skip the Buried Neighborhoods - Go For Aerial

Randolph Hills MD, a community served by the Montrose Road CO (RKVLMDMR) has an aerial plant. No workers need to risk their lives digging in anyone's yard.

We'd LOVE to have FiOS here.

And she would have been convicted of murder since they were probably well within their rights to be diggin there. There is this little thing called a right-of-way that is established by laws in local areas.
